The Art of Photography Miami (Field Workshops)

You are cordially invited to join our group once again for a great field photography workshop, offering opportunities to enjoy this unusual and fashionable South Florida area, to expand your artistic / technical photography knowledge, add new "know-hows" and images to your photography toolbox / portfolio... while enjoying our group's camaraderie.

As locally advertised, the Miami Design District is known for its ever-expanding modern architecture, upscale design stores, public artwork, Art Galleries, luxury fashion and jewelry boutiques, as well as cafes and celebrity-chef restaurants… possibly surpassing Wynwood’s high-end value.

The workshop leader / instructor (Rafael) taught photography classes at all levels and has led many field photography outings for over 15 years and will be available during this shoot for specific tips, technical consultation, and photography information to capture better images and make this a memorable learning experience for you. This workshop is a “One-of-a-Kind” technically supported photoshoot with attention to practical learning for which there is a $10 fee.

We’ll meet in the heart of the Design District on the corner of NE 40 Street and NE 1 Avenue, at 10:00 AM. For you consideration, the Museum Parking Garage (Museum Garage, 90 NE 41st St, Miami, FL 33137) -around the corner from where we’ll meet, is probably the most convenient and cheaper parking BUT also note that there is plenty of parking along the streets.

You are cordially invited to this “out-of-the-ordinary NIGHT photowalk event” to challenge your Street Photography skills, as well as sharpen your urban scenery talents. You’ll be able to practice Street / Documentary Photography under various types of lighting conditions, while anticipating and executing under exciting decisive moments opportunities BESIDES enjoying a great night of music and camaraderie.

Cultural Fridays at Calle Ocho are special events that happen on the third Friday of the month with displays of musicians, whimsical shops, interesting characters, Art Galleries, and the traditional Domino / Chess players at the Maximo Gomez Domino Park: You just need to come ready to "create" quality magic moments.

This event is guided by Rafael, an enthusiastic photographer and experienced photography instructor who has taught photography in South Florida for many years. He has also led many field photography outings for over 15 years and will be available along this photowalk for specific tips, technical consultation, and even offer Little Havana’s cultural and historic information.

We’ll meet and start our photowalk at the Domino’s Park entrance (1444 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135) at 6:30 PM - Please note that there is plenty of (pay with app) street parking along 8th Street and side Avenues… This workshop is a “One-of-a-Kind” technically supported photoshoot with attention to practical learning for which there is a $10 fee.

VERY SPECIAL... ONE OF A KIND PHOTOWALK EVENT TO DOWNTOWN MIAMI, A PHOTOSHOOT DOCUMENTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF MIAMI’S FUTURE AND ICONIC "SUSPENDED BRIDGE" CONNECTING MIAMI WITH MIAMI BEACH, AKA: THE FOUNTAIN

DOWNTOWN MIAMI IS AN URBAN / METROPOLITAN CENTER THAT'S CHANGING DAILY – The magnificent construction (IN-PROGRESS NOW) of this unique bridge designed -and being built, to become THE SIGNATURE ARCHITECTURAL ICON for Miami. Our photowalks outing is intended to be a historic documentary (journalistic) event to capture various phases of construction. TO CAPTURE VISUAL IMAGES AS IT STANDS TODAY. You're welcome to join our group and be ready to practice specifics of street, architecture, and documentary photography during this photowalk / workshop event... You'll be able to identify photo opportunities, adapt to the best (available) light + field conditions (positive and negative) and anticipate the “decisive moment” around the transformation currently happening in Downtown Miami.

We’ll meet at the History Miami Museum / Library courtyard and from the Government Center catch a FREE ride in the Metromover to the Museum Park Station in Biscayne Blvd. From there we’ll circle the construction area from various points of view, looking for the best possible images and compositions. Afterwards, we’ll walk along Biscayne Blvd to capture some iconic architectural views, such as The Freedom Tower (Old Miami News), the One Thousand Museum (building designed by Zaha Hadid Architects), the Adrianne Arsht Center (portions of old Sears store corner stairway), then return to our starting point via the Metromover.

Join us for a lively presentation as Arnold Plotnick takes us on an informative, entertaining and occasionally irreverent journey through the year 2025. We’ll explore the moments that caught his eye, the techniques he experimented with and the images that emerged along the way, as he discusses the benefits that photographers can derive from taking and sharing a photograph every day. Expect a mix of street scenes, creative edits and surprising discoveries as Arnold shares both the successes and the happy accidents that defined his year in photography.

Arnold Plotnick is an exceptional photographer and an organizer in The Art of Photography NYC. He brings a keen eye, a creative approach, a wry sense of humor and a distinct artistic voice to his street photography and beyond. His images have appeared in numerous publications, including Black & White Magazine, KLICK: The Magazine for Street Photographers, The Inspired Eye, and Mobiography Magazine.
