グループの特徴
We require members to use a real first name and face photo on their profile. Food at our events is vegan but anyone interested in lowering their carbon footprint by eating more plant based meals, even if never planning to go fully vegan, is welcome.
Meatless Meetup is run by a group of volunteer hosts who believe it to be of critical environmental importance that we drastically reduce our meat and dairy consumption. We recommend Earthsave Canada (https://www.earthsave.ca/) for information about the plant based diet.
There are lots of opportunities to volunteer with us, from collecting cash at restaurants to helping out at potlucks. If you want to meet more people at events, get in touch.
N.B. As last minute cancellations and no shows keep wait-listers out, harm our relationship with restaurants, and can even result in our volunteer hosts having to pay for others' meals, we require you to pay for your meal via e-transfer for set menu events if you no show or cancel without adequate notice. Repeated no shows will result in removal from the group.
Meatless Meetup aims to be a transparent, safe space for all. If you experience any form of harassment, please contact a host immediately. Those causing other members to feel unwelcome or unsafe, including in the form of abusive direct messaging outside of events, may be removed from the group.

すべて見る- Sunday Brunch at Eternal AbundanceEternal Abundance Organic Market & Eatery, Vancouver, BC
We had such a lovely brunch at Eternal Abundance in April, so we are going back! It's Father's Day, so take your dad out to brunch if you wish!
Eternal Abundance is Vancouver's all-organic grocer and vegan cafe. A community-based business, it prioritizes local and fair trade. All food is prepared in house, in small batches.
This is a pre-paid event. The cost, per person, is $19 (tax and tip included). Please only pay once you have rsvped that you're going (and not if you're on the waiting list.)
Within 1 hour of rsvp-ing "Yes", please send an e-transfer of $19 to alisoncole@telus.net , and indicate if you would like Option #1 or #2. If payment is not received after registering, you will be removed but are welcome to re-register and pay if space remains. Refunds will be issued, minus a $2 processing fee, up to 24 hours before the event by emailing Alison. Alternatively, you are welcome to find someone to take your place.
We have 2 very yummy options to choose from:
- Quinoa Waffles
Made with freshly ground quinoa and oats, and hemp milk. Three waffles served with maple syrup, fruit, shredded coconut, housemade buttery spread and seasonal fruit preserve.
or - Smoked Tofu Benny
House-made caraway oat biscuits topped with smoked tofu slices, creamy cashew hollandaise, avocado, wilted kale and fresh tomato. Served with side slaw and roasted potatoes.
In addition, guests will also be offered the restaurant's Customer Appreciation discount for 10% off any items in the store, including fresh fruits and veggies, glass-packed superfoods, vegan gourmet cheeses, and much more. Check out the store's website at www.eternalabundance.ca/market
We look forward to visiting this lovely dining space on The Drive, all vegan and organic.
REFUND POLICY: If you need to cancel your reservation, please email Alison at alisoncole@telus.net before 11am on June 15th (24 hours before the event starts), and she will e-transfer you a full refund minus a $2 processing fee. No refunds will be issued less than 24 hours before the event, but you are welcome to find someone to take your place.
N.B. If your e-transfer is being sent from an account with a name different than your Meetup name, please email Alison a note to let her know so that she can confirm your payment.**************

- Solstice Beach Party at Kits BeachThe Boathouse Restaurant, Vancouver, BC
This is our annual meetup on the beach to celebrate Solstice.
Bring your own towel or blanket to sit on. If you want others to sit with you, bring a sheet or something.
Also, please bring some vegan snacks to share, such as strawberries, blueberries, popcorn, chips etc.
We're not meeting AT the Boathouse restaurant. We will be directly in front of the restaurant but very close to the water not the restaurant. All attempts to have signs over the years have resulted in the signs blowing over. You will find us by walking along the water's edge NOT by walking along the path beside the restaurant.
Here's a map of approximately where we'll be: https://goo.gl/maps/jzTtiQqNZdBYrxJ1A
June solstice is the longest day of the year because the length of time between sunrise and sunset on that day is the yearly maximum. Daylight on Solstice this year will last 16 hours and 15 minutes.
We won't stay crazy late but sunset will happen at about 9:22 pm and so we won't probably leave before 9:30.
P.S. Let us know if you are going to arrive late but it's best to arrive early. Please arrive before 7:15.
NB. In the case of any rain that day, the event will be postponed to Sunday. Please note: If it is sunny at 6:00 but the sand is wet from rain earlier, the event is still postponed.
- Volunteer Work Party & Potluck at Hearts On Noses Pig SanctuaryHearts On Noses A Mini Pig Sanctuary, Mission, BC
Join us in helping out with important tasks and getting ready for summer at the sanctuary, all the while getting to know some of the HONs residents, as well as some fellow animal lovers! We will have a tour of the sanctuary at the beginning.
Located in Mission, BC, Hearts on Noses (HONs) was established in 1999 by Janice Gillett, as a rescue sanctuary for potbellied pigs. The sanctuary now provides a home for various breeds of pigs (27 in total), plus 3 dogs! The sanctuary is a place where these animals have found refuge from the harsh world that sees them as little more than pieces of property. Tasks at this event may include: filling pigs' water dishes, removing poop from their houses (each pig has a "house" with a yard), shoveling mulch, and shoveling gravel. There will also be lots of time to visit with the animals.
Drivers are needed to get out to the sanctuary, so please post if you have a vehicle, if you are willing to drive others, and what city/part of the city you are in (passengers pitching on gas is definitely welcomed and a kind gesture!). Your host Alison will reach out to arrange the carpools.
Dress for the weather, and wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy! Bringing work gloves would be a great idea too (although they can also be provided).
We will have a vegan potluck to celebrate after our hard work! Please bring a plant-based dish to share, with no animal products, including dairy, honey or gelatin. You may bring your own plates and cutlery if you wish, but they will also be provided.
Sorry, this isn’t an event for children, due to safety reasons.
Visit www.heartsonnoses.com to find out more about this haven for pigs!
