Hey fellow meditators, come join us on April 6th for a full-day adventure, hike and meditation at Mount Nokogiriyama, which has one of the largest Buddhist statues in Japan (3x bigger than the Kamakura Buddha).

Mount Nokogiriyama is a 330-meter tall mountain along the western coast of Chiba. It's spread out along the slopes of the mountain is Nihonji Temple, which was commissioned about 1300 years ago, making it one of the oldest sites in Kanto.

This is going to be a real adventure - We'll take a train from Shinjuku, hike, meditate outdoors with the Buddha statue, and get a historical guide of the area!

Why meditate in nature?

Many of us have forgotten how to listen, feel, and sense the natural world and why it’s vital to our own humanity.

Unlike being indoors, meditating in the wild allows you to utilize all of your senses and the sensory environment as a support for being present. This wisdom of nature is easily revealed :)

About the hike:

  • An opportunity to take a break, reconnect with nature, and yourself
  • A 2-hour guided historical tour of the area by local explorer Kaori Sasho
  • Guided 30 minute nature meditation and group exercises by Misha in front of the giant Buddha!
  • Barefoot walking / connecting foot-to-earth (for a portion of the hike)
  • About 3 hours of hiking total, some uphill but mostly downhill (beginner to intermediate)
  • Onsen (hot springs) at the end to relax and chill out.
