Presentation 2 with Naoise Gaffney
Software Patents in the 21st Century
Intellectual property is becoming an increasingly significant consideration for technology companies, and the use of patents to protect software inventions has in particular become a much debated topic. Different jurisdictions around the world have different approaches to software patents and the extent to which they are permissible. This talk will consider the history of software patents, and will consider the different stances currently taken by patent offices around the world, including the US and the European Patent Office."
Speaker Profile
Naoise is a Tokyo-based European Patent Attorney admitted to practice before the European Patent Office, the USPTO (as a patent agent), the UK Intellectual Property Office, and the Irish Patents Office. He works as a foreign-qualified patent attorney for a Japanese Intellectual Property firm, as a consultant for an Irish Intellectual Property firm, and as an Adjunct Law Professor at Temple University Japan. He specializes in patent prosecution, portfolio management, and IP strategy. Naoise is also the co-founder of the Start-Ed free legal clinic initiative for entrepreneurs and startups (www.start-ed.org (http://www.start-ed.org/)). He is currently trying to establish a Start-Ed branch in Tokyo. "Naoise" (pronounced "Nee-sha") is an uncommon Irish name that has caused much confusion and amusement over the years.
Presentation 3 with Dr. Bob Tobin
POWER OF COURAGE
There's one trait that will bring your career, your life, your presentations, your business to a much higher level and that's Courage. We don't hear very much about courage in Japan, but it certainly exists and you can develop more of it. And you can have fun doing it.
Tonight's speaker, consultant and author Dr Bob Tobin, will show how you can be more courageous in the way you work and live. Bob will talk about his own search for courage, how you can develop your own courage--- and what you can do about fear. Be prepared for a presentation that will propel you to many more moments of courage. It may even change your life.
