Deep in Gifford Pinchot National Forest sits one of the region's most beautiful waterfalls. Let's head out on a Saturday afternoon to soak in some of the forest and spend a little while basking by the falls.
Plan to arrive at the trailhead in time for a prompt 2:00 pm departure. While not a highly difficult trail, there are still some sections with significant elevation, so this might not be a great event for those brand new to hiking. Expect to keep a steady pace, there will be limited breaks other than some time at the falls.
We should arrive back at the trailhead at roughly 6pm, depending on the pace of the group. There will most likely be a stop for a meal on the way back to Portland, for anyone who wishes to join.
Bring: sturdy hiking shoes or boots, plenty of water and snacks, sun protection, and an extra layer - it may be chilly at the falls.
Well-behaved dogs are always very welcome! Please don't bring any dogs that are aggressive towards people or other dogs.
Carpooling is encouraged and can be coordinated in the comments. Each vehicle at the trailhead needs to display a valid NW Forest Pass or pay the $5 day-use fee. The road to the trailhead is pretty rough - most cars should be able to make it but be prepared to dodge some potholes, and I don't recommend driving anything with particularly low clearance.
My goal is to ensure that all attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience, but please be aware that I am a volunteer host and not a professional guide. By attending this hike, you acknowledge that you are accepting sole responsibility for your own safety and well-being. Please come prepared, know your own limits, and hike at your own risk.
