About us
This adult group is for 20-somethings and 30-somethings who love the outdoors and want to experience it with other like-minded people. All skill levels are welcome. Hikes will mostly be around Portland and the surrounding area and will vary in difficulty and length. Looking to meet people? The goal of this group is to create an atmosphere where you'll be sure to have fun and make friends, all while staying in shape or getting in better shape and clearing your mind in the great outdoors.
Dogs are welcome on hikes, but note that a small number of trails will not allow them, and these will be clearly noted beforehand.
For out-of-town hikes with limited availability, please only sign up if you are sure you will attend.
For a little clarity on the group demographics, it caters to the 20-39 year crowd. We are unable to accommodate children under 18.

Dog Mountain Wildflower Hike - Sunset
Dog Mountain Trailhead, Dog Mountain Trailhead ,, Cook County, WA, USDistance: 6.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 3,000 feet
Difficulty: 8.5/10
AlltrailsDog Mountain is one of my favorite trails in the gorge, and the views are even more spectacular right at the start of peak wildflower season. It's a busy trail this time of year, so let's sidestep the weekend permit requirements and head up for a Friday evening sunset hike.
Plan to arrive at the trailhead early - we will be departing promptly at 5:45 pm. Expect a steady pace with minimal breaks to reach the summit in time for sunset. This is a challenging hike. If you haven’t completed hikes with similar elevation gain, this event will not be the best introduction as we may not be able to wait for slower hikers due to limited daylight. The descent will be in the dark so be sure to bring a headlamp.
Bring: sturdy hiking shoes or boots, plenty of water, snacks, a working headlamp, and a warm extra layer (it's often chilly and windy at the top).
Well-behaved, capable dogs are welcome. If your pup comes along, make sure to bring enough water for both of you, as there are no creeks or water sources on the trail. Please don't bring any dogs that are aggressive towards people or other dogs.
Carpooling is encouraged and can be coordinated in the comments. Each vehicle at the trailhead will need either to display a valid NW Forest Pass or pay the $5 day-use fee.
As a volunteer host, it's my goal that everyone who attends has a safe and enjoyable experience. But by attending this hike, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety and well-being. This is a casual outing and not a guided tour, please come prepared, know your own limits, and hike at your own risk.
