Seneca: Of Tranquillity of Mind

詳細

In this session, we’ll read and discuss extracts from Seneca's (c. 4 BCE – 65 CE) Of Tranquillity of Mind (De Tranquillitate Animi).

We’ll explore Seneca’s reflections on restlessness, self-doubt, overwork, distraction, and the pursuit of inner steadiness in a turbulent world. He examines the causes of dissatisfaction in life, and how philosophy can help us find clarity, purpose, and peace of mind.

As always, we’ll reflect on how these timeless ideas can be applied to our modern lives.

It's not absolutely necessary to have read Of Tranquillity of Mind in order to take part. However, it's quite short, so it's recommended if you possibly can!

You can find free translations of Of Tranquillity of Mind (Also called On Peace of Mind) here and here.
There's also a good, free narration on YouTube here.

This event is free, but please support the venue by buying a drink. Order at the bar before taking your seat.

There is a waitlist, so if you need to change your reservation, please do so promptly to allow others enough notice to attend.

The group is non-religious and apolitical, focusing on practical philosophy.

No previous knowledge is needed. Newcomers welcome!
