We are people interested in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) topics and how these intersect with society, culture and startups. This group is co-managed by organizers from Space Cafe Tokyo and Nerd Nite Tokyo, which each have monthly events. Other organizers and ideas are welcome -- get in touch!
Space Cafe Tokyo is hosting its next event in Shimokitazawa!
"Peering into the Origin of Solar System with JWST"
New eyes on the skies, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is transforming our understanding of the formation of stars like our Sun. RIKEN research scientist, Yao-Lun Yang, will discuss the latest discoveries by JWST on the ice around baby stars.
Yao-Lun Yang (RIKEN) was born and raised in Taiwan. After getting a bachelor's degree in physics from National Taiwan University, he went to the University of Texas at Austin to study for a Ph.D. in astronomy. In 2019, after getting his Ph.D., he was a JSPS postdoctoral fellow at RIKEN for a few months and then joined the University of Virginia as an Origin Fellow for two years. Last March, he returned to RIKEN as a research scientist in the Star and Planet Formation Lab.
