Badminton Wednesday 🏸
Welcome to the Winterthur Badminton Meetup! 🏸👊😉🍻
We’re an international group created for badminton fans in and around Winterthur. Open to Expats and Swiss folks who want to train and socialise with fellow ‘badmintonists’. Or perhaps you’d like to learn the sport and meet new people? Whether doing it for fun or fitness, the idea is to enjoy and have a great (kickass) midweek. And everyone is welcome to join us for a postgame drink or two! See yah! 😊
Important: We ask everyone to respect others who wish to play. That means dropping out if you won’t make it to the game by updating your RSVP.
Keep in mind:
RSVPs close at 21:00 two days before the event to give others enough time to plan. Anyone on the RSVP list who did not show up at the event is considered a "no-show".
No-shows will still have to pay the shared cost of the court and shuttles. We keep track of no-shows and deprioritise them in future games.
Please try your best to pay on the same day by Twint or in cash. With Twint, write in the comment the date and your name for reference.
Cost will be around 12-20 CHF, depending on the amount of players joining and if we have to rent 1 or 2 courts.
Note: If it's your first time joining, please send me a message for more details and to confirm your spot in the game. Otherwise, regular players will be given priority.
Cheers,
Elias

Behind The Curtain
"Behind the Curtain" is a women’s group built around real conversations and genuine connection. It’s a place where you can show up as yourself, talk about the things that actually matter, and feel truly heard — without pressure and without judgment.
We intentionally leave work, small talk and our phones at the door, making space instead for honest stories, thoughtful questions and meaningful connection. To keep the space intimate and make sure everyone has room, spots for each gathering are limited.
While each event stands on its own, the hope is that familiar faces will return over time, allowing trust to grow and real friendships to form. Whether you come with something on your heart or simply to hold space for others, you’re welcome here exactly as you are.

But no one is forced to create. You can also just come to have a drink and enjoy the creative vibe of a diverse and inclusive artistic group.

Live Metal Concert Night!🤘🎶🖤
This weekend, Metal Night Vol. 8 at the Stadtchäller in Winterthur brings together three bands for an evening of hard rock and heavy metal in one of the region's most atmospheric underground venues. 🎶🖤
We will be going there together, not just to enjoy the music, but to support and cheer on our own **Alex**, who takes the stage twice that night, performing with both 13th Warbler and Shinra.
Being the awesome artist and animal welfare champion that he is, he donates everything he earns from the event to animal welfare. He surely deserves an audience as cool as this group is. 😎✨
**More about the music:**
**13th Warbler** is an operatic prog metal band from Zurich. Their music is a fascinating collision of heavy riffs, complex time signatures, and an 8-string guitar, all woven together with the soprano voice of their singer — theatrical, cerebral, and completely their own thing.
https://13thwarbler.bandcamp.com/
**Shinra** is a Swiss modern metal band whose debut EP This Will Pass, released in 2025, explores themes of impermanence, consciousness, and the poetry of loss.
https://shinra-metal.bandcamp.com/
**Upload**, hailing from Fribourg, is a relentless force in the heavy music scene, combining brutal intensity with haunting melodies.
https://uploadofficialband.bandcamp.com/
**Tickets:**
Tickets are available at the door for 25, or online for 20. It's recommended to buy online to guarantee your spot.
https://eventfrog.ch/de/p/konzerte/hard-rock-heavy-metal/metal-night-stadtchaeller-in-concert-vol-8-7431815001181046120.html
**The plan:** We meet at Zurich HB at 18.30 and take the train to Winterthur.
Doors open at 19:30, so there's plenty of time to arrive and settle in before the first act takes the stage.
Maybe you are a lifelong metalhead or have never set foot in a concert like this before. Regardless, this event is a chance to experience something new or familiar together, spend an evening with good people, and show up for someone in our community. 🌿🤘🖤

Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
