🌿🧘‍♀️ A bientôt! 🧘‍♂️🌿

If you have nothing to read but would like to come and listen, you are most welcome too. Merci de [prendre ta place ici.](https://luma.com/avyfq29z)\*\* **📚 Join The Offline Club at Le Kawaa du Lucernaire for a very special edition of our cosy Offline Reading Party.** Lock your phone away and immerse yourself in a morning designed to recharge you — with a twist. This time, we're celebrating **Slow Art Day** by turning our books into works of art. Because here's the thing: your book *is* art. The cover, the typography, the texture of the pages, the way a sentence is constructed. We just rarely slow down enough to notice. This reading party is your chance to disconnect from screens, unwind from the daily buzz, and meet like-minded people — while rediscovering your book through a completely different lens. A little escape into a different world — where time slows down, people are open to connect, and you can truly focus on yourself. The perfect start to your weekend. ✨ *** **What to expect:** 📖 Peaceful (me-)time to read that book you've been meaning to start (or finish!) 🎨 A Slow Art session that might just change the way you read... forever 🤝 The chance to meet and connect with like-minded (wannabe) booklovers 💬 A space where connection comes easily — no rush, no pressure, no notifications 🫖 Community vibes, a welcoming atmosphere, and plenty of time to relax 📵 Valuable time offline that leaves you feeling rested and fulfilled 🇫🇷 🇬🇧 French & English friendly — all our events are bilingual, so you can comfortably speak either language *** **The Program:** **10:00 – 10:30 \| Arrive & Make Yourself at Home** **10:30 – 11:00 \| Slow Art Session** We'll begin by looking at our books the way you'd look at a painting in a museum: slowly, curiously, without rushing to "get through it." Led by an Art Therapist specialised in Museum Art Therapy and Book Therapy (yes, that's me, Stefania, your city leader 🙋‍♀️), this session will invite you to truly *see* your book before you read it. We'll also explore the idea of Slow Reading, because... did you know that's a thing too? **11:00 – 12:00 \| Dive Into Your Book** Your time to sit back and enjoy undistracted reading time — perhaps with fresh eyes after the session. **12:00 – 13:00 \| Connect With Others** Chat and connect with others, but only if you feel like it. Meet new people, share stories about your favourite reads, and enjoy meaningful conversations. We create laid-back spaces where talking to strangers is the norm and connection is made easy. *** **What to Bring** Your current read, a book with a cover that makes your heart sing, or both. Comics, poetry, graphic novels — all literature is welcome here. Come as you are, bring what moves you. *** **About your phone:** *Your phone will rest in our “phone hotel,” and we’ll be its bodyguards. But just so you know, if it magically disappears, learns to fly, or mysteriously breaks, The Offline Club can’t be held responsible.* *Not quite ready to let it go? No worries — just switch it off and keep it tucked away, out of sight.* *** We love and appreciate the venues that host our events! Please remember that your consumption gives the venues one more reason to love us back! *** **We can’t wait to swap screen time for real time with you.** Offline hugs, Stefania, The Offline Club Paris
BOOKCLUB: Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre
BOOKCLUB: Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre
Let's get together with a drink and discuss this book. *Nausea* is the story of Antoine Roquentin, a French writer who is horrified at his own existence. In impressionistic, diary form he ruthlessly catalogues his every feeling and sensation about the world and people around him. His thoughts culminate in a pervasive, overpowering feeling of nausea which "spread at the bottom of the viscous puddle, at the bottom of *our* time, the time of purple suspenders and broken chair seats; it is made of wide, soft instants, spreading at the edge, like an oil stain." Roquentin's efforts to try and come to terms with his life, his philosophical and psychological struggles, give Sartre the opportunity to dramatize the tenets of his Existentialist creed. The introduction for this edition of *Nausea* by Hayden Carruth gives background on Sartre's life and major works, a summary of the principal themes of Existentialist philosophy, and a critical analysis of the novel itself. Aeneid, by Virgil
Aeneid, by Virgil
The Aeneid is a Latin epic poem that tells the legendary story of Aeneas, a Trojan who fled the fall of Troy and travelled to Italy, where he became the ancestor of the Romans. Written by the Roman poet Virgil between 29 and 19 BC, the Aeneid comprises 9,896 lines in dactylic hexameter. The first six of its twelve books tell the story of Aeneas' wanderings from Troy to Italy, and the latter six tell of the Trojans' ultimately victorious war upon the Latins, under whose name Aeneas and his Trojan followers are destined to be subsumed. The hero Aeneas was already known to Graeco-Roman legend and myth, having been a character in the Iliad. Virgil took the disconnected tales of Aeneas' wanderings, his vague association with the foundation of Rome, and his description as a personage of no fixed characteristics other than a scrupulous pietas, and fashioned the Aeneid into a compelling founding myth or national epic that tied Rome to the legends of Troy, explained the Punic Wars, glorified traditional Roman virtues, and legitimized the Julio-Claudian dynasty as descendants of the founders, heroes, and gods of Rome and Troy. The Aeneid is widely regarded as Virgil's masterpiece and one of the greatest works of Latin literature

Bad Girls Book Club April 2026
Bad Girls Book Club April 2026
**Our April novel is: *The Hong Kong Widow* by Kristen Loesch** **This month’s novel blends gothic atmosphere with historical fiction and chilling horror, set against the haunting backdrop of China. The book is 368 pages in print and 10 hours and 42 minutes on audiobook.** In 1950s Hong Kong, Mei is a young refugee of the Chinese Communist revolution struggling to put her past in Shanghai behind her. When she receives a shocking invitation—to take part in a competition in one of the city's most notorious haunted houses, pitting six spirit mediums against one another in a series of six séances over six nights, until a single winner emerges—she has every reason to refuse. Except that the hostess, a former Shanghainese silent film star, is none other than the wife of the man who once destroyed Mei’s entire life. It is promised the winner will receive a fortune, but there is only one prize Mei wants: revenge. Decades later, the final night of that competition has become an infamous urban legend: The police were called to the scene of a brutal massacre but found no evidence, dismissing it as a collective hallucination. Mei knows what she saw, but now someone else is convinced they know what she did. She must uncover the truth about the last night she ever spent in that house—even if the ghosts of her past are waiting for her there. . . .

AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
