🌸Hanami@TV Asahi cherry blossom alley🌸テレビ朝日さくら平和通り🌸
I highly recommend you to join us from the beginning. 1.) 12:00 - 12:30 pm: Gathering at the meeting spot. 2.) 12:30 - 01:30 pm: Going together to TV Asahi cherry blossom alley. 3.) 01:30 - 05:00 pm. Picnic under cherry blossom trees. 4.) 06:00 - 8:00 pm: Dinner/Drinks at the Kerb (optional). ⚠️\*\*Due to the extremely short full bloom, I might change the date of the Hanami. Please be flexible.\*\*⚠️ **1.) How to find the Manifesto Market:** [https://goo.gl/maps/aSnChzLuE6akyP4F8](https://goo.gl/maps/aSnChzLuE6akyP4F8) This will be only our meeting spot. The food hub is located in "The Playce". The new flagship shopping center of Potsdamer Platz. Most likely we will be waiting next to Kabuki near the stairs leading to the first floor. **2.) Going to TV Asahi cherry blossom alley:** We'll use public transport to get to this place. If you live in the south you can join us directly there. **3.) Hanami at TV Asahi cherry blossom alley:** Bring a blanket, some drinks and snacks. After the reunification of Germany, TV Asahi donated about 10.000 cherry blossom trees to Berlin and Brandenburg as a symbol of peace. The TV Asahi cherry blossom alley is has 1000 cherry blossom trees. Hence, it's considered the most spectacular cherry blossom spot near Berlin. **4\. How to find the Kerb food court** [https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7) Kerb is located at the former Sony Center. The new flagship food court of Potsdamer Platz. Most likely we will be sitting upstairs on the first floor next to the bar (take the stairs to the left). ***Best ways to get there:*** 1\. U2 \(subway\): Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk around 7 min to Kerb. 2\. Bus M41 or M85 Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk 5 min to Kerb. *Who is this meetup for:* 1\. Asians who want to practice German and/or English\. 2\. German speaking individuals who are studying \(preferably\) Japanese\, Korean\, Mandarin or Cantonese\. 3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\. *What you can expect:* 1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\. 2\. A Walk & Talk to break the ice\. 3\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\. *** Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?" You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did. From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach. “A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily. Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on. Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship. This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.

😶‍🌫️What is unpleasant? Working with pain, challenging emotions & thoughts🫣
😶‍🌫️What is unpleasant? Working with pain, challenging emotions & thoughts🫣
**😶‍🌫️ Working with Pain, challenging emotions & thoughts 🫣** *"Karma, or destiny, is an expression of a beneficial law: the universal trend towards balance, harmony and unity. At every moment, whatever happens now, is for the best. It may appear painful and ugly, a suffering bitter and meaningless, yet considering the past and the future it is for the best, as the only way out of a disastrous situation*." (Nisargadatta Maharaj) **"Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional" is a popular phrase. Most people on the spiritual path face at least at some point pain, challenging emotions and other potential obstacles. On the flip side, there are fascinating practices that focus on working with pain, other 'unpleasant' appearances as well as thoughts and regard them as highly valuable objects to develop insight and other qualities.** **Let’s share for an afternoon about Pain, thoughts, challenging emotions and potential obstacles, what they means for us and what their role may be on the spiritual journey.** *“If we give in to our habits of avoiding discomfort, we transform conscious pain (mostly emotional and psychological) into unconscious cramps. [...] We instinctively contract away from acute pain, but that ironically ensures chronic suffering. [...] Suffering is an inappropriate relationship to pain. And by reversing that relationship, we can relieve our suffering.”* (Andrew Holecek) 💫 **What this event offers for you:** - Guided Meditations for arriving, calming the mind and tuning into your intuition - Meeting people interested in spirituality (all levels) - Safe Space for sharing - non-hierarchical and non-judgemental - Opportunity to ask just about any question **👀 You may watch one or few of the following Videos for inspiration:** - Mingyur Rinpoche on Meditation with pain ([Youtube](https://youtu.be/f7NEiKkdwq8?is=jcVU-h5Mp1TpA_H7)) - Shinzen Young on Meditation with Pain ([Youtube](https://youtu.be/5IU6UbRbJvQ?is=OBEhyU-QVGon1uWl)) - Testimonial of a Student of Shinzen Young on an experience of meditating with pain ([Youtube](https://youtu.be/MBI3CRqiSAo?is=tvfB9NUtU8xh9jmu)) - Andrew Holoczek on Reverse Meditation on the Sounds True Podcast ([Youtube](https://youtu.be/_WPP5GL-3-0?is=O4xOxLUnnrf4EDuE)) **About the Organizer** Martin is a certified Mindfulness Teacher, Systemic Coach, Yogi and Altruist by heart who teaches Meditation and Martial Arts in different formats. However, in this meetup Martin focuses on the altruistic intention to open a space for people to share while offering as much facilitation as needed in the moment. "*A personal problem cannot be solved on its own level. The very desire to live is the messenger of death, as the longing to be happy is the outline of sorrow. The world is an ocean of pain and fear, of anxiety and despair. Pleasures are like the fishes, few and swift, rarely come, quickly* *gone. A man of low intelligence believes, against all evidence, that he is an exception and that the world owes him happiness. But the world cannot give what it does not have; unreal to the core, it is of no use for real happiness. It cannot be otherwise. We seek the real because we are unhappy with the unreal. Happiness is our real nature and we shall never rest until we find it. But rarely we know where to seek it. Once you have understood that the world is but a mistaken view of reality, and is not what it appears* *to be, you are free of its obsessions. Only what is compatible with your real being can make you happy and the world, as you perceive it, is its outright denial. Keep very quiet and watch what comes to the surface of the mind. Reject the known, welcome the so far unknown and reject it in its turn."* (Nisargadatta Maharaj)

AIKIDO INTRO COURSE FOR LGBTQIA+-PEOPLE AND FRIENDS
AIKIDO INTRO COURSE FOR LGBTQIA+-PEOPLE AND FRIENDS
## AIKIDO INTRO COURSE FOR LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE AND FRIENDS Have you been curious about Aikido — and wanted to try it alongside other queer people? This four-hour course offers a first look at the fundamentals, with no prior experience required and no performance pressure. It’s designed for LGBTQIA+ people and their friends who want to try Aikido for the first time, or who have taken a few steps already and want to go deeper. ### WHAT THE COURSE COVERS ### Two training sessions of 90 minutes each. We start with functional movement and breathing exercises. From there, we get familiar with the mat: a range of rolling movements to help you move safely and fluidly. Gradually, you develop a sense of space, balance, and your own body. The basic steps of Aikido are introduced one at a time — Tai Sabaki, Tenkan, Irimi. The terms may sound unfamiliar, but the movements are natural. Everything you need, you’ll learn in the course. In partner exercises, we explore simple Aikido techniques together. The focus is on understanding the underlying principles: How do I use movement instead of force? How do I stay connected to the person across from me? ### TEA BREAK There’s time in between to catch your breath, rest, and talk with the instructors and other participants. ### SLOW PRACTICE MEANS FASTER LEARNING This isn’t about collecting as many techniques as possible. It’s about really feeling and understanding the movements — with patience and attention. ### YOUR TEACHERS: ### Niklas Brochhagen (he/no pronouns) and Juliane Winkler Juliane (she/her) and Niklas (he/no pronouns) are both queer and have practiced aikido for 20 years. They continue to find joy in the interplay of flexibility and steadfastness in aikido, which enables lively interaction and strengthens the feeling of connection within one’s own body.

Silent Reading Club
Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better! It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The usual agenda: - Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes) - Silent reading (~1 hour) - Discussion (~30-40 minutes) - Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like! You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you! No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.

AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee. Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus. This month's prompt concerns the idea of the “warrior philosopher” (seemed appropriate in these times)--that is someone whose understanding of violence, power, and justice is forged through direct experience of war. We are looking at Major General Smedley D. Butler, a highly decorated U.S. Marine raised in a Quaker (pacifist) tradition who later became a prominent critic of American militarism (there is a wonderful biography of Gen. Butler called "Gangsters of Capitalism") Butler's argument in *War Is a Racket* (1935): that many U.S. interventions were driven less by national defense than by corporate and financial interests, with Butler portraying himself as an enforcer for business and Wall Street. We can consider the moral ambiguity of his insider critique—whether complicity strengthens or undermines credibility and also consider some of the concrete reforms he proposed (e.g., “conscript” capital before soldiers, restrict the military to coastal defense, and have only those who fight decide on war). Butler’s life arc clearly changed from pacifist upbringing to warrior to antiwar crusader—and asks whether true understanding of peace requires firsthand knowledge of war, and what that implies about the cost of suffering. So do we need to suffer to understand suffering? Do we have to experience war to appreciate peace? As one more question: in the movie "A Few Good Men" Jack Nicholson's character says that "you have the luxury of not knowing what I know" so do most of us go through life oblivious to real violence and suffering?
