Talk 1: **Typesetting PDFs with Web Standards**

Generating PDFs is a task every developer eventually faces, yet what looks easy often becomes deceptively challenging. Even something as simple as adding a footnote can be outright impossible or is painfully manual in many libraries. This session explores common challenges, unpacks the underlying graphic design principles that shapes corporate branding, and introduces Vivliostyle, a Web-Standards based library that enables developers to use HTML and CSS to create polished PDFs with professional design precision.

In a 10+ node homelab of sub-$50 boards, overnight autonomous agents tackle increasingly wild problems — recovering corrupted Windows via a $11 DIY IP KVM, reverse-engineering IR protocols, generating bilingual subtitles, installing Linux entirely over SSH, and more, underpinned by a philosophy that trusts AI with real SSH access, and governed by rules and damage control, not restrictions. This talk walks through what happens when you stop asking AI to write boring boilerplate and start giving it interesting problems at the boundary of what's possible. Winning ASEAN Visitors in Hong Kong: Retail, Content & Tech Strategies
Building on last year’s success, Invest Hong Kong is joining forces with the Hong Kong Retail Management Association (HKRMA) for another exclusive seminar on 24 April. The session will explore how retailers can capture the vast opportunities from the ASEAN visitor market—one of the most dynamic growth engines for Hong Kong’s retail sector.
The afternoon session will focus on ASEAN consumer behaviors, sharing strategic insights and practical content strategies on social media and KOL marketing to help connect with target customers more effectively. The program will also feature an overview of the latest leasing trends, alongside real-world case studies showcasing how AI is transforming the in-store experience. The Story So Far: A WiA Reflection Circle
A WiA Collective Wisdom Exchange
At the start of this year, we gathered to look back, set intentions, and imagine the next chapter.
This is the follow-up.
Not a check-in. Not a progress report. A small, facilitated circle to reconnect with what you said mattered — and honestly explore what’s actually happening now.
Together, we’ll explore:
• What you intended at the start of this year - and what that looks like three months in
• What’s surprised you, supported you, or shifted
• What the next chapter needs now that you know what you know
If you were at our January gathering, bring whatever you made or wrote — your word, your artifact, your intention. We’ll look at it with fresh eyes. If this is your first time, you belong here too. You’ll start where we all started: with what’s true right now.
Optional art materials will be available for anyone who wants to reflect creatively alongside conversation. If you brought something home from January, you’re warmly invited to bring it back.
The intention is the same as always: everyone leaves feeling more clear, more connected, and a little lighter.
Space is intentionally limited to keep the experience intimate.
