**WHY GO?**
Saxon Switzerland is the mystical German wonderland you’ve never heard of before. The surreal and majestic landscape invites you to hike through wild canyons framed by sandstone stacks and fairytale forests.
**WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?**
* **Ridge Trail:** The steep slope is well secured with a railing. Stairs and ladders help us get up high. From up there we have the ultimate view of Saxon Switzerland.
* **Schrammstein Viewpoint:** The viewpoint offers a magnificent view over jagged rock formations, impressive table mountains and wide landscapes as far as the eye can see. On the other side of river Elbe, you see the fortress Königsstein, out of the forest rises the mighty Falkenstein. It is also a great spot for a picnic.
* **Gate of Schrammstein:** The 'Schrammsteintor' is one of the most stunning rock formations in the entire national park. The deeply cut passage between the rocks is completely covered with sand and looks like a piece of desert and is a unique photo opportunity.
* **Schmilka:** This traditional village is often described as the most beautiful village in Saxony.
* **Bad Schandau:** Hike, feel good, come back - that is the motto under which Bad Schandau welcomes its guests. Beautifully situated on the Elbe, Bad Schandau is the most centrally located holiday resort in Saxon Switzerland. The small town with its typical medieval centre invites you to take a leisurely stroll through its cafés, restaurants and shops. As the oldest spa town in Saxon Switzerland, it has a great tradition.
**WHAT IS THE PLAN?**
* **5:30 am -** Meet in Berlin Hbf train station
* **5:40 am -** Catch train for Bad Schandau (starting with RE 8 to Elsterwerda)

Folk games and picnic in Hasenheide with Zack
**Invitation to the Telegram community. ALL COMMUNICATION for this Event** will be done **in the Event Chat&Photos** subchannel. **Mute/Unmute** your notifications for **each subchannel to your preference:**

**The Plan:**
Folk legend and retired Chef of Play Zack Wood is in a brief Berlin visit, bringing games from far and wide for us to enjoy together.
Let's gather around for a picnic and be prepared to opt in or out of an assortment of different physical activities:
Chaotic, odd and a little bit crazy,
or playful, invigorating and dynamic,
or spiritual, connecting, stimulating,
he will tune the experience to the mood of the crowd.
Bring whatever you need to enjoy the park: food, drinks, sun protection, picnic blanket or anything else.
The activities are free, yet you are welcome to throw some coin his way afterwards (his phone was stolen a few days ago and he would appreciate it).
We meet in the south part of park Hasenheide, near the calisthenics area and Cafe Hasenschänke (which I've been told has free restrooms).
If the weather makes it impossible or there are any changes to the plan and you are registered, you will receive an update.
Put on your playful spirit and see you there!

On Saturday I'll drive to Liepnitzsee for a swim and a short picknick on the lake. I have a car and I wouldn't mind some company.

=== NO-SHOW POLICY ===
I enforce a zero-tolerance policy on no-shows and last-minute cancellations. If you RSVP and don't show up, you will be removed from the group. If your plans change, please cancel early enough to make your seat available for someone else.

Sunday afternoon Climbing at Magic Mountain
**!If you cannot belay, please contact us on the Telegram group!**
Here is our Telegram group (to be protected against bots): https://tinyurl.com/BerlinClimbingMeetup2
**Safety:**
**If you cannot belay, please contact us on the Telegram group about this and we will put you in a group with experience people. That way, if you cannot belay you can still come and climb with us. We are not allowed to teach anyone how to belay or refresh someone's belaying skills. If you have not belayed in the last 6 months or more, we recommend you do not attempt it here without taking a formal refresher course first.**
Join us for some Sunday afternoon climbing at Magic Mountain. We will spend the afternoon climbing - lead and top rope followed by a meal afterwards.
The Plan:
4:00 - 8:00 climbing
8:00+: Potential hangout (sauna from the gym, drinks. local restaurant) depending on the mood of participants
Gear:
You can rent all the gear you need - shoes, chalk and a harness.
Finding the group:
We will either be waiting outside on the wooden chairs or hanging around reception (if the weather is bad). If you're new to the group, I'd recommend trying to arrive on time or a bit in advance. Please use the link below to join our Telegram group and send us a message if you have trouble finding us.
Note: We are not a "Magic Mountain" official Meetup, the hall has its own meetups, we are an independent group with events in different halls. So don't be confused if some of the reception people don't know about the meetup or tell you it happens on another day. :)
In addition, while the event is free you will need to pay the entry to the gym and the rental equipment if you don't have it. (20 to 25 euros)
Telegram Group:
You can also join our Telegram group using this link: https://tinyurl.com/BerlinClimbingMeetup2

Hike around Erkner: Wupatzsee, Karutzsee and Bretterscher Graben
Hi Everyone!
This time we are going to hike around Erkner, which is east of Berlin. We are meeting on Sunday, April 19th '26, at 11:05 am at the Ostkreuz Station, platform 1, and taking the next RE1 to Erkner. From there we will walk around Wupatz Lake (Wupatzsee), cross the Löcknitz Island (Löcknitzinsel), go through forests and fields to Karutzsee and Karutzhöhe (a residential area) from there to Heim Gottesschutz (residential area), and making a big curve around Bretterscher Graben and fields around it, we will come back to Erkner (it’s round tip). The hike is 12,5 km long, it should take us approx. 3h. You will need an ABC ticket for the train and please take enough water, refreshments and food if you want. We will make a short break at some point to eat and drink.
I’ll have a pink cap on so look out for a pink cap on a tall man, I will stand next to escalators. It's a straight-friendly event, so anyone is welcome.

Park Volley ☀️ 🏐 🌴 @ Hasenheide
**Join us for outdoor grass volleyball in Hasenheide park!**
This event is not suitable for complete beginners.
We play with two nets. The "chill court" is for mixed-level play with 3v3 up to 5v5. The "competitive court" is for higher-level 2v2 play with beach rules.
Be sure to wear suitable sports clothing and perhaps bring a drink.
There are no facilities such as changing rooms and showers in the park. A nearby public toilet is also available, but it might be closed, dirty, or not have toilet paper.
**Location**: We play in the narrow clearing, located between the two paths in the center of Hasenheide park, on the southern side. Updates will be posted in the WhatsApp group, which you can join via [https://tinyurl.com/ParkVolley](https://tinyurl.com/ParkVolley)
**RSVP**: Put yourself on the waitlist, even if other people are already on there. The waitlist is not chronological, so even if there are 30 people on there, you still have a chance! If you get a spot, you will be moved to the attending list and notified by Meetup. This is a free event with limited space. **If you can't make it, promptly update your RSVP to NO** so others can take your place. If you do not show up or cancel last minute, you will be marked as a no-show, reducing your chances of getting off the waitlist in the future.
**Payment:** This event is free, but you are invited to make a 2 EUR donation towards equipment.
**Attending**: Do not join if you have an infectious disease. You need to be on the attendee list to attend; **being on the waitlist is not sufficient**. Do not bring friends that are not on the attendee list. **Showing up without having a valid RSVP will get you banned**.
**Safety**: Mind the terrain. The grass might be uneven and contain items such as bottle caps. It is not suitable for diving or playing like on a beach. Be careful not to twist your ankle. Keep an eye on your belongings since we are in a public park. We do *not* have a full first aid kit available. Please inform the organizer of any medical conditions that might require attention during the event.
Some things you *might* want to bring:
\* Drink
\* Snacks
\* Insect spray
\* Sunscreen
\* Toilet paper, if you wish to use the public toilet

Hike Blacklick Woods and The Canopy. Optional lunch after.
Over time I'm hoping to organize a hike to all the Franklin County Metro Parks. This is the first one so if you're interested jump in!
We'll start with the Canopy Walk, a cool feature of this park. Climb 100 stairs to the top - or take the elevator if stairs aren't your thing. At the top there are a bunch of things to play on - a rope bridge, a fireman pole that we can slide down - and more! About fifteen minutes there and we'll head to the natural trail, Buttonbush, Maple and Beech Trail for 2.2 miles then do a 1.7 mile loop on the paved Greenway Trail. We'll be passing our cars as we transition if you only want to do the first loop, or the second loop. Pace of around 3.5 mph but no one left behind.
If there is an interest we can grab lunch nearby afterward.

Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Richard Ades**
**Band: The McKenzies**
**Clinton Heights Lutheran Church**
**15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
