Tuesday Evening Taught Life Drawing
Tuesday Evening Taught Life Drawing
**Tuesday Evening Taught Life Classes** Book a place here **[http://dublinlifedrawing.com/taughtclass](http://dublinlifedrawing.com/taughtclass)** Drawing from the figure has been part of an artist's basic training since ancient times, and for good reason. Drawing from observation teaches you how co-ordinate the eye and hand, and working from the nude model is the most rewarding kind of drawing. A set of taught classes will explain fundamental aspects of drawing the figure, and give tips and show tricks of exploring the materials, methods and approaches to rendering the figure on paper. This class is suitable for everyone- from beginners just starting off on their drawing journey, to more experienced people who want to build up their skills set. Basic techniques are outlined in every class, and then more complex exercises are explored. Drawing exercises take place in an easy, informal setting. Measuring, sighting, and understanding negative space and shading are explored as well as basic anatomy and proportion. Some easels and drawing boards are provided. Basic drawing materials and paper are included in the price (but feel free to bring your own). [-Book Here](http://dublinlifedrawing.com/short-course) Small class sizes with tuition and instruction will help with developing your own drawing methods and style. The teaching exercises are based on fine art practice but will be of great interest to illustrators, designers, and animators. Paintings of William blake
Paintings of William blake
COST: FREE. RSVP: Opens William Blake, a visionary artist and poet, was a defining force in Romanticism. His imaginative and unconventional works continue to inspire today. This exhibition, curated by [Tate](https://www.tate.org.uk/) in partnership with the National Gallery of Ireland, presents a selection of Blake’s most iconic works of art, alongside paintings and drawings by his contemporaries. Blake’s world was one of fantasy, imagination, and the ancient past, filled with fantastical creatures and visions of the underworld, expressed through a wide variety of media. By placing him in context - among the artists he admired and those he inspired - the exhibition offers insight into an era of extraordinary originality and innovation in late-eighteenth and early nineteenth-century art. Featuring over 100 works, including by James Barry (1741–1806), Henry Fuseli (1741–1825), John Hamilton Mortimer (1740–1779), Thomas Rowlandson (1757–1827), and J.M.W. Turner (1775–1851), the show explores how artists responded to a time of revolution and transformation, pushing the boundaries of their art into new imaginative territories. Organised in collaboration with Tate. DETAILS: 09:30 Meet outside the Cafe inside the National Gallery at the Calre street Entrance 09:45 Viewing of the exhibition 10:30 Coffee in the cafe at the Gallery

Day of Arts - workshops & artistic presentations
Day of Arts - workshops & artistic presentations
Art has long been a means to express and perceive universal values of beauty and harmony by finding an expression to unite opposites, like light and darkness, sounds and silences or movement and stillness. And the artist, like the philosopher, finds a way to make the invisible visible or perceivable, whether in paintings, sculptures, music, dance, poetry and so much more. Join us for an afternoon in the search for Wisdom through Philosophy & Art. **2pm Introduction ‘The Muses’ (Free)** Introduction to the day, with a short talk on the ‘The Muses’, inspiring poetry and dramatic readings. **Ongoing workshop – “Making a shared mosaic” (Free)** From all the individual pieces of tiles there emerges a beautiful unity, each piece is different and contributes to the collective. This is one of the key principles in Mosaic art. Learn more about this and the fundamentals of creating mosaics and how to create simple designs using colourful tiles. ***All are welcome! No experience necessary for any of the activities.*** There are also 2 other workshops running on the day, please click the links below to find out more. **From 2.30pm - Bodypercussions & Vocals (€7, 1.5 hours)** https://www.meetup.com/philosophy-in-rathmines/events/314398224/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events **From 3pm - Making your own sistrum (€5, 30 mins)** https://www.meetup.com/philosophy-in-rathmines/events/314398170/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events00

AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee. Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
