Guided Tour of The Crypt, Pro-Cathedral
Come join me as we venture on a guided tour of the Crypt of St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral in Dublin.
It serves as the burial place for Roman Catholic Archbishops of Dublin, with a history spanning over 100 years. It notably houses the remains of Cardinal Paul Cullen, who died in 1878 and was moved to the Pro-Cathedral following the sale of Clonliffe College in 2021.
**Location:** **The Pro-Cathedral is located on Marlborough Street in Dublin city centre**
**Cost: I will collect €10 per person before the tour.**
**Meeting: Outside its front doors at 2.50pm.**
**Time of tour: 3.15pm -4.30pm**
While the cathedral was built as a 'temporary' arrangement in 1825, the crypt functions as a permanent resting place for prominent Dublin clergy.
The crypt at St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral is distinct from the tourist-accessible crypts at St.Michan's Church or Christ Church Cathedral, focusing primarily on clerical burial and other surprising tombs and vaults.
**Please only RSVP if you are free on this date.**
**Please wear appropriate footwear.**
**The Crypt is not suitable for people with mobility issues due to its uneven ground in parts inside.**
**Members are responsibile for their own Health & Safety**
I look forward to seeing you there
Earth Day 2026 - Storytelling & Sustainability Stand in the Park
Join us as we celebrate **International Earth Day!**
Ecological sentiment is not something new; it has always been a part of our relationship with Mother Earth. In the 21st century, perhaps we have forgotten how to love the world we live in? Has our relationship with Nature become merely pragmatic, practical, and nearly utilitarian, instead of nurturing and meaningful?
What we do not love, we can’t protect. Responsibility comes from the heart, which is why ancient wisdom reminds us that we belong to the world we live in and that we are a living part of a much greater cosmos. It is falling in love with that sense of belonging that will give energy and care to our actions for Mother Earth.
**How to belong: Myths from Around the World**
Step into our storytelling circle to hear ancient myths that have shaped the human-nature relationship for millennia. We will explore how different cultures have traditionally viewed their responsibility to the Earth.
**How to transform everyday habits into sustainable actions!**
Explore practical DIY cleaning solutions made from simple, eco-friendly ingredients. Join us to learn sustainable ideas that fit into your daily routine, from reducing waste to making small, impactful changes. Participate in our interactive sustainability stand designed to inspire small but important steps toward a healthier planet. Whether you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint or simply want to live more sustainably, this stand offers actionable tips and hands-on inspiration.
Because sustainability is not about losing something, it is about remembering our relationship with the living world.
*We will meet in Dartmouth Square Park at 2pm.*

Ward River Valley and Swords Castle walk
On Sunday 19th April we shall have a walk in the Ward River Valley to Swords Castle.
**Meeting Location**
Swords Express bus stop on Eden Quay which is next to stop 135351 and Meaghers Pub. From O'Connell St head towards the River Liffey and when you get to the river, turn left. The bus stop is a short distance on the left hand side. The Swords Express bus takes Leap Cards (please ensure you have enough credit) and is scheduled to depart at 10:45. If it's easier for you to catch a different bus to the walk's starting point then please let the organisers know.
**Route Description**
From the meeting point on Eden Quay we will take the Swords Express bus to near the Windmill Lands area of Swords from there we walk through the park and along the Ward River into Swords itself to see the historic round tower of St Columba's Church, the holy well and the lovely Swords Castle. The distance is approximately 5km. There will be time to look round the castle which is free to visit. After maybe a cup of tea or a pint of beer, we will take the bus back into Dublin.
Or alternatively if people wish, we could have a further walk to Malahide Station via the lovely Malahide Estuary. This is approximately a further 5.5km.
Some paths can be a little muddy, but the chosen route should avoid the worst sections. If it's dry and warm enough, we'll probably have a picnic in the park. There are no shops on the walk, but there are many shops, cafés and pubs in Swords itself.
\*\*\* If you wish to wander off during a break then it's probably OK but please agree with the organisers a time you'll return so we're not waiting for you \*\*\*
We hope to see you there!
Feel free to come on the walk even if you haven't been to a meet up before. This is a great way to meet new people and see new places.
**\*\*\* Important, please click on Attend if you wish to join this event. If you can no longer make it then please change your RSVP or send a message. Don't be a no-show - the organisers reserve the right to remove people from the group who have multiple no-shows. \*\*\***
Host: Tim (085 718 5658) On the day of the event, if you need to contact the organiser then please send a WhatsApp message is the best way. Before the day you can send a message via Whatsapp or leave a message below.
FAQs
1. Is there a charge for this event? No, this is a free event. Sometimes we have events that involve a visit to a museum or garden with an entrance fee - but this will be clearly marked in the details
2. Is it OK for people on a short visit to Ireland to join this walk? Yes both visitors and residents alike are welcome to join our walks.
3. How easy/difficult is this walk? Most walking groups would classify this as an easy walk, but having a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
4. Why are there only a limited number of places for this event? To ensure the best possible experience for the people attending it is necessary to limit the numbers, especially as the chosen route may not be straightforward and along narrow paths.
5. Why is it necessary to book on this event if you wish to attend? This is because there are only a limited number of spaces (see point above) and to ensure the fairest allocation of spaces, we kindly request everyone to book a place. It's OK to change your mind about coming but please change your RSVP as soon as you have for someone else to take the place if they wish to.
PLEASE NOTE: Walking like many outdoor activities carries an element of risk. People who take part in our meet up activities do so at their own risk and are responsible for their own actions and involvement. If you register to join our meet up walks you agree that you wish to take part in the activities despite these risks.
Please wear boots, shoes or runners that you find comfortable, provide suitable support and have good grip as some of the paths may be uneven or steep. It is also recommended to bring water to avoid dehydration. Bring warm clothes and a waterproof jacket or umbrella in case of inclement weather.
