Lean Startup First-Timers: Getting Started with Customer Development!
This introductory "Getting Started" meeting is for founders (and potential founders) who are first-timers to Lean Startup Perth (or those who wish to get a refresher on Lean Startup). It's best for you to attend one of these meeting before attending a "Getting On" meeting (although it's not required).
Hello Perth Founders and Friends,
Have you got a great startup idea? Or have you already started a new business and it's not going so well? Don't waste any more time or money on building an app or product, getting PR, or even marketing. Come along to Lean Startup Perth and we'll help you find a successful business.
This "Getting Started" meeting will introduce you the "big ideas" in Lean Startup and Customer Development. Did you know that Lean Startups don't do sales, don't do marketing and don't do product development? Well, what do they do then? Come along and you will find out that and more,
Created by Eric Ries and Steve Blank, the Lean Startup with Customer Development approach is a radically new way of doing startups. It changes everything about startups (more than most founders, service providers and investors realise). It changes the very meaning of what it is to be a startup.
We suggest new members come along to one of these "Getting Started" meetings to learn about Lean Startup with Customer Development before coming the to "Getting On" meetings. This "Getting Started" meetings are repeated but will only run if there are enough new members attending.
We welcome anyone keen to learn about Lean Startup with Customer Development.
All the best for success!
Cheers,
Ashley.
Organiser, Lean Startup Perth.

Join us for a FREE 60 minute online masterclass and learn what non-technical founders need to know to launch a successful tech startup.
You will learn:
1) The one most important skill that you must have in the early stages of your startup to be successful
2) Why it’s so hard to find a technical co-founder or CTO and what you should do instead to get your idea off the ground
3) Two money-saving skills you need in order to test ideas without engaging a developer
4) How to define your MVP properly to reduce the cost and time required to develop your app

Tiny Hustle Daily Check-in
Hello!
Are you serious about executing your marketing plan consistently?
I am.
Although, to be honest I have really struggled to stick to my marketing plans.
I tend to go for the "go big or go home" approach and then end up being overwhelmed and doing little or nothing.
A solid marketing habit is the only thing between my current situation and an incredible lifestyle business.
Tiny consistent actions every day is the way forward.
If you find yourself in a similar situation jump on the video call every week day at 1pm - it's just 30 minutes.
We will share goals, obstacles, strategies and provide accountability.
Above all we will keep things tiny.

Shut Up & Write BR Wednesday Sessions
Hi, Writers!
After a long, long hiatus, our Wednesday Sessions are back! Join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm CST for our online writing accountability group.
What we do:
We gather on Discord to chat for a few minutes before starting a timer where we will write separately for one hour (mics muted, and you can disable your camera if you like). When the hour is up, we reconvene to see how useful the time was for you. We'll often stick around to chat about what we've written, or to suggest books, etc.
The basic schedule:
7:00pm - 7:30pm. Gather, say hello, make introductions if you're new!
7:30pm - 8:30pm. Concentrated writing period. Mute your mics and get writing!
8:30pm - 9:00pm. Discuss what we wrote, ask advice, etc.
It's okay to be late. Just know that if it's past 7:15pm CST, we are writing.
We use Discord. It's a free service with text and video chat, as well as message board functions.
Online NEW IDEA Circle, a 1X STARTUP WORKSHOP.
Want to start? Seem to just not be able to get going? Here's help!
Whether you are a business owner, or you want to be a business owner, or you are an employee or volunteer, if you want to launch something new, join us here in Denver any Friday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. the hard workers can then return to their work, others can take off early for the weekend.
If you or any of your associates are visiting Denver, be sure to visit us. If you like the meeting we can help them start something similar in your hometown in cooperation with their local chamber or service club and community newspaper. We say it's 1X because if we are successful you will be too busy to come back the next week!
_________________________________________________
WE need your help to help YOU!
Starting now each Online IDEA Circle will be NEW, we will keep it fresh by using the dynamic Socrates Cafe format (thanks Chris Phillips), but limiting the focus to topics having to do with startup, a one time meeting where anyone can bring their startup problems and opportunities for a Fresh Thought Hunt (FTH,) for more about FTH see the HBR Press book "Just Start."
We start and end with a meeting of the whole, the Fresh Thought Hunt itself will take place in groups of 3 through the magic of computer science. RSVP here now to make sure we save a seat for you.
'
The NEW IDEA Circle is free and open to anyone and everyone who is starting something new, a new business prior to the first sale, or an established business or an individual who wants to start in a new direction. The only requirement is a clear statement of what you want the Fresh Thought Hunt to focus on for you.
The first 10-minutes of each NEW IDEA Circle will be recorded and will be posted on our YouTube Channel for SBCC that has been inactive from it's founding long ago. (On YouTube search for Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc. or via Facebook/SmallBizChamber.)
We encourage each of our SBCC fellow members to join us at a Socrates Cafe Online, Fridays, Saturdays, 1st Sundays, and Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. Denver time, 8:30 p.m. Eastern, 5:30 p.m. Pacific, suggest the topic of startup or whatever topic might help you the most, and to eventually form a similar Socrates Cafe and New IDEA Cafe in your local library, coffee shop, or other public meeting place with the sponsorship of one of your local chambers of commerce and your local community newspaper. For more see our Facebook Page via www.SmallBizChamber.org and "Visit Group" to join while it's still free.
Once you have started a Socrates Cafe or a NEW IDEA Circle, you will be invited to JOIN OUR NEW SBCC WREN COLLEGE and a FACULTY PEER GROUP, see https://WrenCollege.org for online application for being a faculty member and a student, and to request help starting your new Socrates Cafe. Questions about this are answered each week at our Monday Noon Newcomers workshop.
____________________________________________
We encourage you to: Watch one; Lead one; Start one!
Be a startup catalyst for your community by starting an IDEA Cafe with your local community newspaper.
Starting in a new direction? No matter what you want to start, a new career, a new project or campaign, or a new business, we can help you start faster, cheaper, and with less risk.
The Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and our free, open meetings and peer groups are inspired by the clubs that formed in London during the English civil war that resulted in Sir Christopher Wren giving the first talk in a Franklin Circle type meeting that eventually became the Royal Academy.

Zoom On-line Guitar Jam
Welcome new members, Due to Covid, we are meeting online every Thursday evening at 06:30 pm through Zoom. The Zoom link is provided below. Our format is friendly and open to players of any level. We take turns playing songs in a solo manner. Because of the lag inherent with playing online, only one person plays at a time while the others mute their microphones to avoid back ground noise.
Music Makers ONLINE!!
Click on the below link and follow the steps to join. You can join from a computer, phone or tablet, computer has best audio usually. See tips below. To join Zoom Meeting

Meeting ID: 342 195 107
Password: musicmaker
A lovely session of music and song in a relaxed and supportive environment. All levels of musician and singer welcome. You can come and sing or play one song or just come and listen to the other members. Great way to build up your playing skills and build up your confidence.
To maintain our zoom and music maker accounts we request a €2 contribution. It is difficult to collect money for the online events so we are suggesting that if possible we could use revolut to transfer the €2 if you don't have an account I'm sure you know someone who could do the transaction for you. The host will identify the Revolut number on the night. If you don't have access to revolut it doesn't matter we will look at some other way to collect the €2 euro.
Zoom is not optimized for music, but we have tested it and think it's decent enough for a get together in the absence of a face to face meeting. Voice is better than instrument.
Zoom is pretty simple to get into and use. You don't need an account but if you want to test it out beforehand, you can get a free one by searching for it where you get your apps or downloading it on the web.
A few simple guidelines to ensure it runs smoothly.
1. Stay on mute while someone else is playing or singing. You can join in ONLY if you are on mute, because the delay over the internet does not allow simultaneous playing online.
2. When you are playing, stay as close to your device's microphone as possible for best results.
3. There are two views - Gallery view and Active Speaker view. Active speaker will put the video on the person singing, Gallery view will show everyone. You may have to search a bit to find each view, it is different on each device.
4. You can mute your audio and/or your video.
The host reserves the right to mute anyone whose line is causing audio interference.
5. There is an interesting option to record yourself first and then share it - the quality will be better.
In Zoom there's an icon called "Share Content", if you click that you get the option to share files on you Google Drive etc. I've just tried it out and it allows you to throw up pre-recorded audio and/or video files. These replace your video picture while they play. When they finish just hit the share content icon again and your video image comes back. So this might be an option for anyone to pre-recrord (good quality), load onto Google Drive, join a Zoom session and, when it comes to their turn, introduce their song and share the pre-recorded song from G Drive.
6. As mentioned above, Zoom is optimised for voice rather than music so it actually tries to filter out music thinking that it's background noise but that filter can be disabled but only on Windows and macOS as follows:
On the Zoom Home page on you laptop:
Click on 'Settings' (top right)
Then click on 'Audio' (left pane)
Then click 'Advanced' (bottom right)
Then tick the box at the top of the screen 'Show in-meeting option to "Enable Original Sound" from microphones'
Then, when you're on a call, a toggle switch appears at the top left of your screen "Turn on Original Sound".
Click that - it changes to "Turn off Original Sound" and you're done.
Preferred setup for anyone with an instrument might thus be:
1) Windows or macOS
2) Turn on Original Sound
3) Direct connect to router (rather than Wi-Fi)
Even better if you have a microphone connected via an audio interface device to your laptop/PC.
7. Don't forget your drink!

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
• What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
See you at The Café on Saturday!
Feel Good Friday: POWER BALLAD at the Gateway Film Center + SHAKE NO. 8!
Join us as we get together to see Paul Rudd in the latest comedy-drama-musical from John Carney, POWER BALLAD! The film follows a washed-up wedding singer, a fading boy band singer and a stolen hit song. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. When Danny turns Rick's song into a hit, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. Power Ballad is written/directed by John Carney, the master of the modern musical and creative mind behind Once, Begin Again and Sing Street! It stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu and Jack Reynor.
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival where critics call it “a sure-fired crowd-pleaser” that “just might be the feel-good hit of the year!” Others say, “Paul Rudd delivers a career-best performance in this charmer” that’s both “hilarious and deeply moving!”

Central Ohio Chapter Meeting
IN PERSON IN COLUMBUS
How I Get Private Lenders and Partners to Fund My Deals
If you can’t fund it, you don’t have a deal.
And right now, funding is where more investors are getting stuck.
Private lenders are more cautious.
Partners are asking better questions.
And deals that look good on paper still fall apart when the money doesn’t show up.
That’s why we’re bringing in a panel of investors who are actually getting their deals funded right now.
You’ll hear how they’re finding money, structuring deals, and building relationships that lead to repeat funding.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
* Where they’re finding private lenders today
* How they start conversations that lead to funding
* What makes lenders and partners say YES
* How they structure deals to be fundable
* The biggest mistakes investors make when raising money
* How to build repeat funding relationships
**Early Session (6:00–7:00 PM Eastern):**
**Having Trouble Finding Tenants? How Community Shelter Board Can Help**
Nicholas Brenner will walk you through programs designed to help rapidly rehouse tenants, including financial support that can stabilize your rentals.
**The Deal Room (7:00–7:30 PM Eastern)**
Bring deals, funding needs, buyers, and problems.
This is where connections turn into action.
This meeting is for serious real estate investors nationwide, and we’re known for our high-content, real-life education and our nationwide community of dealmakers.
Members and non-members at all levels are welcome.

Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.
Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine.
We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you.
The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly.
Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit.
Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.
Happy writing!
