Free Meditation on Saturday Morning
Free Meditation on Saturday Morning
In-person meditation Every Saturday 10:30 AM Sahaja Yoga is a method of actualizing the pure state of meditation, through the awakening of our inner spiritual energy. This experience of inner spiritual awakening also called as self-realization leads to a profound state of silence, a state of “Thoughtless Awareness”, where the mind is silent, and you simply witness the present moment. **\*\*\*RSVP ON MEETUP ALONE DOES NOT RESERVE A SPOT ON THE TRIP\*\*\*** **[About the Park](https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/caprock-canyons)** If you're looking for a stunning outdoor adventure, Caprock Canyons State Park in the Texas Panhandle is an absolute gem! This sprawling 15,000-acre park showcases gorgeous, rugged canyons shaped over time by wind and water, creating some truly breathtaking scenery. One of the coolest features? It's home to the official Texas State Bison Herd – you will spot these majestic animals roaming the landscape! With over 90 miles of trails, there's plenty to explore whether you're into hiking, biking, or horseback riding. The park also features prairie dog towns, camping options ranging from primitive sites to convenient drive-up spots, and spectacular viewpoints like Holmes Creek Canyon. Don't miss the Folsom Historic Site, a beautiful natural bridge, and the intriguing Fern Cave – they all add to your visit! **About the Work** The park rangers would like us to do trailway bridge work along with brushing trails. **About Transportation** Participants are responsible for their own transportation. Carpooling is encouraged; please contact other attendees on this trip to arrange your carpool. **About Lodging** We will be tent camping within the state park, at the South Prong area (no electrical or water). Participants are responsible for bringing their own camping equipment. **About Meals** Participants bring their own breakfasts and lunches. For evening meals, you and your cooking group (TBA) will feed the entire group one evening - this includes bringing and preparing the food, as well as dish patrol (washing pots/pans/etc.) **About Our Day Off** Sunday April 19 is our day to enjoy the park- participants can decide what they want to do during this day. There are usually hikes or other outings organized within the group. ***But wait - there’s more!*** On Saturday April 18, (after Palo Duro SP, and before Caprock Canyons SP) we get to check out a huge area nearby that is not open to the public, and won’t be for at least three years! The [Cross Bar Special Recreation Management Area](https://friendsofcrossbarsrma.org) is big - 11,883 acres. It is the only BLM land in Texas. We have received special permission to have them guide us across private property to get to the preserve. They are meeting us at the gate at 10:30am on Saturday April 18. It is about an hour drive from Palo Duro. The gate’s address is 9610 Brickplant Road, Amarillo, TX. After exploring the Cross Bar, many of us will proceed to Caprock Canyons State Park (2 hour drive) for another week long service project. **TO SIGN UP FOR CAPROCK CANYONS SP SERVICE PROJECT:** 1. **RSVP on Meetup.** The Meetup may show as full, but if you want to come, please sign up. There is usually plenty of turnover. 2. **Wait for approval from Trip Leaders, who might reach out for more details.** Hiking and camping in rugged wilderness areas takes extraordinary preparation, so we strive to make sure this trip is right for you. 3. **Contact information:** Send your name, cell number, and email address to **[stanpeyton@gmail.com](mailto:stanpeyton@gmail.com)** 4. **Complete the Medical Form [https://tinyurl.com/SCMedicalForm2021](https://tinyurl.com/SCMedicalForm2021).** Scan and email the form also to **[stanpeyton@gmail.com](mailto:stanpeyton@gmail.com)** (preferred) or to Stan Peyton’s mailing address below. 5. **Read the Participation Agreement and fill out Page 1** **[https://tinyurl.com/SCSignUpSheet2020](https://tinyurl.com/SCSignUpSheet2020)** 6. **Mail the forms to:** **Stan Peyton** **8408 Hanbridge Lane** **Austin, TX 78736** **VERY IMPORTANT - IF WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE ABOVE PAPERWORK WITHIN TEN DAYS OF YOUR SIGNING UP, YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE TRIP.** ***Don’t sign up unless you are serious about attending.*** **YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:** **-Food and drink for all your breakfasts, snacks, and lunches.** **-6 gallons of potable water** (park water is high in nitrates and unpotable) **-Mess kit (plate/bowl, utensils, napkin)** **-Your cooking groups’ dinner ingredients & containers for leftovers** **-Tent and tent supplies (footprint, tent, fly, mallet, stakes)** **-Implements of sleeping (sleeping bag, pillow, earplugs)** **-Work gloves, eye protection, kneeling pad, trail tools, geologist hammer** **-Day pack to carry to work sites** **-Flashlight/headlamp** **-camp chair** **-Clothes for the weather, including long shirt, long pants, & boots for trail work, and rain gear** **-Personal prescriptions** **-Water bottle** **-Personal First Aid kit (include tweezers)** **-Sunscreen, bug spray** **ASCO group cooking equipment (large pots/pans, etc.) will be brought by Trip Leaders.**
Join us for a peaceful, healing, mostly silent walk
Join us for a peaceful, healing, mostly silent walk
**UPDATE + info about the walk** Update: 4/17/26 9P -- The event is still on. Weather services are still predicting the rain to start after 8A, so we'll keep it closer to an hour. Do come prepared for rain just in case. Looking forward! Check here for updates in the event of potential bad weather, or if I have to cancel due to a personal issue. Basically, if it's not snowing, raining heavily and without lightening/thunder, we're probably still on. But always make your choice based on your needs and preferences. * It's great to RSVP so we know if you may be on your way. **Peaceful, healing, mostly silent walk in Walnut Creek Park near Parmer and N Lamar.** The opportunity is to slow down and connect with the generous residents of this amazing forest, and discover greater kindness, space and open curiosity within. **\* Current schedule** is 7AM Tuesdays and Saturdays. Check this page for cancellations.
I don’t create separate events currently as that’s too expensive. **\* Meet at Walnut Creek Park, 12138 N. Lamar Blvd · Austin,** on the paved trailhead off the first parking lot as your driving into the park from Parmer on Willow Wild. **\* Look for me:** I'm 5'7", have glasses, often carry a wooden cane, and have white hair that's either being its wild self or pulled up/back in some sort of twist. **\* Inclement weather policy:** If the forecast includes active or likely lightening or heavy downpour, then stay safe at home. I'll update this page in those instances. **\* All levels of walkers are welcome.** The pace tends towards easy rather than speedy, and always accommodates whoever joins and the energy of the moment. **\* Mobility:** We spend most of our time on paved trails, and occasionally walk on generally smooth dirt trails. If you use a walker or need to bring a stroller, bring it on! We'll happily make it work. These walks are free, and I very much appreciate contributions if you feel so moved. Zelle 3233213061 Venmo @lvp-432; last4 3061 Binoculars, sketchbooks and cameras are welcome. Stopping for photos or to make a note on my phone is just part of it, for me. As is the energy healing that just flows in forests. Additionally as a Reiki practitioner, I'm in constant energy exchange with the forest throughout our walks. This healing energy is available to any who want it, and you can internally choose to accept that energy, or not. \* Over time, I'll be adding related reading suggestions and other supporting information of interest about Reiki, forests and how they communicate, how the terpenes help our human bodies, etc. **Indemnity and Hold Harmless Notification** As a participant, you agree that, by participating in these walks, it is assumed that you have read and agreed de facto to the following: \* Reiki is not a medical treatment, and cannot replace any medical treatment or my doctor's recommendations. \* You are fully responsible for your own well-being and indemnify and hold harmless the event organizer and other group members. \* Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult who assumes full responsibility for the minor and also indemnifies and holds harmless the event organizer and other group members. \* Unaccompanied minors will not be allowed to participate in these events. Valid ID may be required as proof of age. \* You understand that this is an outdoors event, and as a participant you may experience exertion and environmental factors such as heat, rain, wind, cold, etc. You may also encounter uneven surfaces, wasps, ants, low-hanging branches, animals including dogs owned by other walkers not part of our group, and other hazards. By participating in the event, you accept these and other risks consistent with the setting and environment and thereby indemnify and hold the event organizer and other participants harmless. \* You understand that, by participating, it is assumed that you have read and agreed to these Indemnification and Hold Harmless clauses. P.S. Right now we meet only at Walnut Creek Park, the Lamar/Parmer trailheads. If you have suggestions of other Austin-area parks to enjoy and support, let the organizer know.

🌊 Morning Walk at Lake Pflugerville
🌊 Morning Walk at Lake Pflugerville
Join us for a peaceful morning walk around beautiful Lake Pflugerville — one of Austin's most scenic spots just a short drive from the city. This is one of our favorite routes: flat, shaded in stretches, and just the right length for good conversation and a natural reset. Whether you're a regular or joining us for the first time, you'll find easy company and a warm pace. Here's what to expect: **The Trail:** It's a 2.9-mile loop with only about 42 feet of elevation gain — essentially flat the whole way. The surface starts as concrete near the main entrance and transitions to decomposed granite, making it easy for walkers of all paces. **Sun Exposure** The trail has lot's of sun exposure, so sunscreen and a hat is recommended. **The Vibe:** It's a wide, well-maintained path shared by walkers, runners, cyclists, and dog lovers. All paces welcome. We walk, we talk, we breathe fresh air. Come as you are. 📍 18216 Weiss Ln, Pflugerville, TX 78660 🥾 Meet at the large pavillion just across from the main parking lot 💧 Bring a water bottle if desired 👟 Sturdy sneakers recommended By submitting your RSVP to one of our walks, you are agreeing that you have read and understand the [Release of Liability.](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zbJd9vBdM-kNFoVQaL5_nOssZhafCL1MY6IuFRR3DJE/edit?usp=sharing)

We'll hike 3.4 miles on the Killdeer and Yellowlegs Trails - both out and back gravel trails. If we want more mileage we can repeat an out and back. Pace of around 3.5 mph, no one left behind and those who want to go faster sure can! As always optional lunch after. This is the second Metro Park in the lineup for me - with 21 to go (plus more are being added).
