Monday Moves-- Capital Crescent Trail
DCC's "Monday Moves" on the Capital Crescent Trail and through Rock Creek Park
Join DCC and Conte’s Bike Shop (Navy Yard) for a fun ~33.5 mile and ~1,200 ft elevation ride to the:
Audi Field, Titanic Memorial, Wharf, Hains Point, along the Capital Crescent Trail, Bethesda, through Rock Creek Park, WW II Memorial, The Mall, and U.S. Capitol.
This ride will be geared towards our newer riders (with a chill pace and no one left behind), but all are welcomed.
This ride will be on the streets, trails and sidewalks. We will go over things to help riders become more comfortable with riding in groups.
We will meet at Conte’s Navy Yard Bike Shop at 10 am and depart at 10:15.
All riders should bring their own hydration and nutrition, as well as a spare inner tube.
*** Please, no music that can be heard by other riders or ear headphones that impede your hearing.
Parking is limited at the Navy Yard, so for those driving, an option is to park at Anacostia Park (aquatic center) and take 11th street bridge to M Street, then a left on 4th.
****all riders ride at their own risk****
If there is a chance of inclement weather expected on Monday, a cancelation notice will be posted by 9:00 pm on Sunday; otherwise, the ride will take place.
Below is a link to the ride:

The Clubhouse Online Dating Rolodex (not an event)
This is not an event - this is an online community.
Finding a quality partner shouldn't be a second job. At Maryland Singles Social Club, we know that busy schedules, demanding careers, and family commitments can make attending every event impossible. That's why we created The Clubhouse, a private, online network designed to expand your dating horizons on your own terms.
Think of it as our digital "rolodex" of exceptional single men and women in the DMV area, all actively seeking a genuine relationship. Unlike the endless swiping and superficial connections of dating apps, The Clubhouse is a carefully curated and exclusive resource available only to our clubhouse members. It’s a direct, strategic way to discover new options and opportunities without the noise or “catfishing” that accompanies app dating.
Visit our website www.mdssclub.com and click on THE CLUBHOUSE to register and learn more!
DC Metro Crafts End of Year Meetup @ SW Library
Let's sneak one more sesh in before the end of the year.
The Southwest Library is right off the Waterfront Metro. We'll be in Conference Room 2, which is on the second floor. If you use the elevator, the room is immediately to your left as you exit, and has a glass wall. If you take the stairs, you can ask the person at the information desk.
Casual Dining Out: Yami Buffet
Welcome to Casual Dining Out, the event series where we explore counterserve establishments, food halls, and other venues for quick bites of Asian, "fusion", and other fare! As in the past, the field for these events will typically be limited, so please RSVP quickly if you know you're coming (or drop out quickly if you can't make it to give others a chance). RSVPs will close at 4 PM the day of the event and anyone who drops afterwards may be subject to the dreaded "no show" designation.
This edition: a brand new sushi buffet!
As always, a bonus activity could follow if the mood is right.

A Poetry Workshop
Hey Poetry Lovers!
This group is on a roll. Here’s the gist:
We meet at the **Capital One Café in Chinatown** from **12pm - 2pm** every other week.
For enrichment, we start by reading and reflecting on a **“published poem”**, suggested by someone in the group. No advance preparation is necessary. But feel free to check out some of the poems we’ve read [here](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSyE_wCLQCPHRrKmN5F9tOIeeRQUZESxjRXGVBoCF2uU8Gm0_d0uECiCBCQXEy6ksxfsBOhtRIOpW3T/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true&widget=true&headers=false%22%3E%3C/iframe%3E). Or submit suggestions for future meetings [here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSexGc2Z2Kp6bZW0D3_hfJ7NUUkfNHf7TXX-43FglCeBd9EF2Q/viewform?usp=send_form).
Next, we **share our work and offer feedback**. Depending on attendance, everyone gets \~10 minutes to use as they like. (No need to share, though; you’re welcome to come even if you prefer just to listen.)
We maintain a **Discord server** to help share our work and communicate outside our bi-weekly meet-ups. If you haven’t used Discord before, take a moment to download it and create an account before arriving. When we meet you on Saturday, we will add you to our server, the “DC Poetry Workshop”, and can help you navigate the app if you have questions.
Finally, if you plan on sharing a poem, consider how you will do so. Some options include:
* Print 5-10 copies to distribute in person
* Take and share screenshots in the Discord chat.
* Copy the poem into a google doc, change sharing settings to “anyone with link”, and copy the google doc link into the Discord chat.
Most importantly, we’re excited to meet you!
Catch you on Saturday,
Diego / Ian / Cayden / Nate / Otasha / Lia / An
Root (6pm)
*Root* is a game of woodland might and right. Stalk the woods as one of the Vagabonds, seize the initiative with the Eyrie birds of prey, rule over your subjects as the Marquise de Cat, or command the Woodland Alliance to create a new order. With creatures and cunning, you'll rule a fantastic forest kingdom in the ultimate asymmetric board game of adventure and war.

**What We Practice:** We practice Insight Meditation, a style of meditation that helps the mind attain deeper levels of calm concentration through sustained attention on the breath, then combines this with the crucial aspect of insight through contemplation of the mind and body and all of their changing and impermanent senses, emotions and thoughts. Insight Meditation trains us to live more fully in the present moment, enables us to experience life from a greater stillness, and aids us in relating to both ourselves and others with increased clarity, compassion, calmness and creativity, and less fear, anxiety and stress.
Along with these and a long list of other psychological benefits, meditation has also been shown to reduce stress hormones in the body, lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, alleviate depression and boost the immune system.
**TEACHERS:**
STAN EISENSTEIN, is a full teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW). He teaches Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and other mindfulness-based courses. He is a mentor the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program run by Sounds True.
