Quite Write: Writing Night!
Quite Write: Writing Night!
NOTE: This is an online event for the time being! Stay safe, everyone. We start off chatting about our work, including setting goals for ourselves (which is entirely optional but super helpful!), and then we write. That's what it's all about. As simple as the idea is, it's amazing how much more you can get done simply by being in the presence of other writers at work. The baked goods don't hurt, either. There is power for laptops, and some of us use pen and paper. Your choice! And, although we are not a discussion group, there are many areas where people can go if they want to talk without being disruptive.

All writers and all experience levels are welcome, and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This hour is about getting your writing done, and having fun while doing it! WHAT TO EXPECT We’ll give 5 minutes in the beginning for people to settle in and share what they’re working on, then have 50 minutes of focused writing before we give people a chance to talk about what they accomplished. Stick around and chat for a bit, or feel free to head out. WHAT DO I NEED? A computer with a working camera and microphone, a good internet connection, and optionally, headphones. WHAT DO I NEED? Writers' On-Line Feedback Session via Zoom
Writers' On-Line Feedback Session via Zoom
This group is for anyone interested in writing in English, whether it be prose or poetry or non-fiction. We get together once a week to listen, critique and support each other in our work. Attendees bring something they have written, which they read aloud. They then receive feedback from the rest of the group. The size of the group is limited to 4, so that everyone is able to receive a full 30 minutes of constructive feedback including reading time. We are an anglophone group and everything is conducted in English, in fact not everyone who comes can speak French. Please bear this in mind if you sign up.

This session: General information: Sue Schneider will guide you through this meditative drawing art form. Step-by-step, you will learn the basic process for creating a small, abstract design using repetitive pattern skills. Zentangle is easy, relaxing and stress-free; perfect for "these challenging times". FIRST-TIMERS: If you are brand new to Zentangle, I'm happy to send you my Beginner's Guide, that will fill you in on background, basic techniques and some starter patterns. Just email me at sue.schneider.artist@gmail.com with "Beginner's Guide Request" in the subject line. Our lesson will begin promptly at noon. The lesson will be about 75-90 minutes. Sue will demonstrate patterns and techniques for you to follow along. During the last few minutes we'll share our creations and wrap-up. There are 2 sessions each month, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. At each session we'll follow the basic Zentangle method and explore a variety of themes and topics, often with new pattern introductions and techniques beyond the basics (e.g., shading, color, non-abstract, use of tinted papers, etc.) SUPPLIES NEEDED: Please provide a standard pencil, a fine tipped black marker, and paper on which to draw. Optional: Tortillion (blending stub), colored pencils, white and red fine tipped markers/pens. Pen recommendations: Sakura Pigma Micron 01; Uniball Vision Micro; Sharpie Fine (look for "**no-bleed**" on the package, solid black barrel). Paper: We usually work on a 3.5" square paper (called a "tile"). Good quality papers that work well are Strathmore Vellum Bristol, 95# or 140# water color paper, a "Mixed Media" sketchbook, 65# card stock. Recently I have often used a 4x6" blank index card. MONEY MATTERS Class is free, but donations are appreciated and encourage your instructor. Please use Paypal (sues1514@hotmail.com) or mail cash/check to Sue Schneider, 511 Bevington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Suggested donation: $5-10 per class. Please feel free to invite friends. They will need to sign up as Meet-up members (it's free) and RSVP to this meeting in order to get the Zoom meeting link. Happy tangling to all, Sue Sue Schneider Certified Zentangle Teacher 412-636-6351 (new number) sue.schneider.artist@gmail.com

Confidence & Connection: Using Your Authentic Truth to Find Your People
Confidence & Connection: Using Your Authentic Truth to Find Your People
**Confidence & Connection: Using Your Authentic Truth to Find Your People** Confidence isn’t just about believing in yourself, it’s about knowing where you belong and who you can grow alongside. In this April Confidence Lab Happy Hour, we’ll explore how living in your authentic truth helps you find your people, build meaningful collaborations, and create spaces where vulnerability is met with respect rather than risk. Together, we’ll reflect on what it looks like to advocate for yourself with clarity and care, and how confidence deepens when it’s rooted in connection rather than comparison. Featured speaker **Lachandra Baker**, founder of **[LBB Edutainment](https://www.lbbedutainment.com/)** and author of *Your Own Biggest Cheerleader*, will share reflections on authenticity, psychological safety, and the power of community over individual achievement. Drawing from personal stories—including the significance of turning 53—Lachandra will invite us into a conversation about showing up fully, being seen, and choosing relationships that support who you truly are. Expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere with space for reflection, shared insight, and intentional connection—plus drinks, light bites, and the kind of conversations that remind you you’re not meant to do this alone. Come as you are. Leave feeling clearer about your voice, your people, and the confidence that grows when both are aligned. **What is Confidence Lab?** Confidence Lab is a monthly community experience for bold, thoughtful leaders building confidence from the inside out. Whether you’re launching a business, leading a team, navigating change, or simply striving to show up more fully—you belong here. Our work demands clarity, courage, and conviction—but the pace of daily life can erode our sense of self. Confidence Lab creates space to reflect, reconnect, and grow with others doing purpose-driven work. It’s designed for entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, creatives, corporate professionals, activists, and anyone ready to lead with authenticity and impact. ***Please note:*** *All are welcome! If cost is a concern, please use promo code PUBLIC to access a free ticket—we want you to join us.*

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them? That is what this meeting will be all about. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
