Open Awareness Meditation Group Meetup
We gather for guided meditation with periods of silence, followed by discussion. The silence is interspersed with meditation instruction, perhaps a brief reading, a simple inquiry, exploration or movement. We meet every Monday night, 7:30 pm Eastern Time, ONLINE. If you find you are running late, come anyway! The format is very relaxed and open— anyone interested in contemplative practice is welcome! About Open Awareness Meditation Group At the heart of these meditation sessions is the silent exploration of what we refer to as Open Awareness. We all know what it means to feel closed, limited, vulnerable, or separate. What is it like to allow ourselves to return to our natural condition of openness, presence, non-separateness and ease? This is what we explore in our meetings. We have been meeting for over a decade. We explore and share primarily from traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the Indian Nondual tradition of Advaita. Some current teachers of this are Francis Lucille, Rupert Spira, and Eckhart Tolle . However all of these traditions ultimately point to the same truth, the truth of our basic awareness or presence which is beyond any tradition, practice or teaching. This is the presence we share, and the presence we are, beyond words. The meetings are open to newcomers as well as experienced meditators, and all are very welcome. Welcome to the The Woman’s Circle! The Woman’s Circle began as a supportive offering during the period of the global pandemic, and has now grown into a warm, fun and nurturing space for inner connection and friendship. Each circle shares a movement, meditation or self-healing practice, and is an opportunity to take a collective breath in sisterhood, providing a helpful pause in your week to recenter and reflect. We meet every Thursday evening 8-9pm PST, over Zoom. This is a free event, although donations are gratefully welcomed! What to expect: Each Circle works to a similar format starting with the opportunity for introductions. You will then be guided through a movement, meditation or breath practice, to help open and relax the body and mind, and release anything from the day. We may discuss an inspiration point, something to reflect on and how it relates to our lives. Following this, the circle is opened to share reflections and experiences. How to sign-up: All new members are invited to a personal meet and greet 10 minute zoom meeting. This gives an opportunity to share more about the circle. This meditation is done in 4 stages of 15 minutes each. The first 3 stages have music, the last stage is in silence. Keep your eyes closed for most of the meditation 1\. stage: Stand with legs shoulder width apart and lightly bent knees. Let a shaking arise from the feet upwards and include the whole body. 2\. stage Dancing, let your body move as it wishes. 3\. stage Standing or sitting, be still, no movements and listen. 4\. stage Laying down on your back relax and watch with eyes closed No prior experience needed - Everyone is welcome.
