Westchester Area RPG Society (WARS) Monthly Meeting
Westchester Area RPG Society (WARS) Monthly Meeting
The purpose of the meetup is to chat about RPG stuff, play RPGs together whenever possible, and give Gamemsasters and Players a way to informally meet and greet each other, talk about RPG stuff, and help to facilitate introducing players to games in the area. If you are a GM with open slots at your table this would be a good venue to meet perspective new players. Just post a RSVP and tell the group a little bit about your game so players can get an idea of what you're up to. Or feel free to drop in and chat about D&Dish stuff. If you are interested in alternative RPGs like some Indie Games or Traveler, or whatever version of D&D from Edition 1 onward, feel free to drop in. We're open to any RPG type games. I'll try to remember to have a sign up stating that this is us which will say "Westchester Area RPG Society (WARS)!!", but do look around for us ... Modern Myths is not a huge store, and we generally will be sitting at the tables in the back of the store. Also, please note - a minimum of three members need to RSVP 24 hours in advance for us to hold the meeting. Otherwise the meeting is postponed until next time. I also encourage members to spark up interest by expressing your RPG interests in your RSVP and encouraging others to attend the meeting as well. :) Mark
Open Awareness Meditation Group Meetup
Open Awareness Meditation Group Meetup
We gather for guided meditation with periods of silence, followed by discussion. The silence is interspersed with meditation instruction, perhaps a brief reading, a simple inquiry, exploration or movement. We meet every Monday night, 7:30 pm Eastern Time, ONLINE. If you find you are running late, come anyway! The format is very relaxed and open— anyone interested in contemplative practice is welcome! About Open Awareness Meditation Group At the heart of these meditation sessions is the silent exploration of what we refer to as Open Awareness. We all know what it means to feel closed, limited, vulnerable, or separate. What is it like to allow ourselves to return to our natural condition of openness, presence, non-separateness and ease? This is what we explore in our meetings. We have been meeting for over a decade. We explore and share primarily from traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the Indian Nondual tradition of Advaita. Some current teachers of this are Francis Lucille, Rupert Spira, and Eckhart Tolle . However all of these traditions ultimately point to the same truth, the truth of our basic awareness or presence which is beyond any tradition, practice or teaching. This is the presence we share, and the presence we are, beyond words. The meetings are open to newcomers as well as experienced meditators, and all are very welcome. TO ATTEND: You can register by going to Awakeningheartpracticecommunity.org. Find the Monday Night Open Awareness Sitting in the Schedule, and click on Register. Only a name and email address are required. Once registered, you'll receive an email with the Zoom link. Save the link - you only need to register once.

Practice German Online! Beginner Level (A2-B1)
You are studying German but you don't get a chance to practice speaking? In our conversation class you can practice and fine tune your German in a structured class, guided by an experienced German teacher. Get the Berlin Connection membership https://berlinconnection.io/ for up to 5 conversation classes per week, podcasts worksheets and writing practice. Plans start at 40 EUR per month. Or: Try one class here for 5 EUR. It's a great chance to practice your German, develop your conversation skills and meet interesting people. A positive and supportive ambiance will make you talk better in no time. Improved fluency and pronunciation, an extended vocabulary and personal feedback will give you confidence in future conversations in your job or private life. How does it work online? Please take time at least 10 minutes before the event to pay and register for an account at http://zoom.us (in case you don't have one already). In each session we have a new topic and will tackle a variety of vocabulary. We will use the breakout feature of Zoom. You will get different discussion points and speak one-on-one with 3-4 other German learners in a separate chat room. After around 5-10 minutes I'll join your room and you'll give me an account of your conversation. I'll then correct your German and give you personalized feedback. After that you'll be assigned to a new group and discuss a new point. Are there requirements? If you are able to have a basic conversation about simple everyday topics - you are ready! If you have no German at all, get started with the mentioned requirements and join us in a few weeks! Why is there a fee? Hosting a meetup is not free. The €5 fee covers the Meetup organizer fee, the zoom membership fee, the preparation and the teaching of the class. Note: This meetup is part of a network with more members on other platforms. The number of attendees indicated here is not the actual number! Feel free to contact me if you should have any questions. I'm looking forward to seeing you! Nadine

Please join us for a pleasant afternoon/evening of competitive party bridge. We use Zoom for audio/video chatting during our games: see the link in the date/time/place sidebar. You may wish use two separate devices for the audio-video and for the bridge play. Kindly provide me your BridgeBase.com username. Then, after you login to BridgeBase.com, go to "Play or Watch Bridge>Casual". From there you can receive the invitation to our table. (BridgeBase doesn't issue invitations unless you are in the right place. (And in case of trouble, it may work to back out and reenter the "Casusal" space.)) If we get more than 4 people, then we'll ask someone to stand up after a few rounds and let others play. Or have more tables! You must know Contract Bridge rules and basic bidding to play. No formal training will be offered, but this is a social, casual event, and bidding advice and meanings will be openly discussed at any player's request. ACBL Yellow Card (http://lexikos.com/yellowcard.htm) is our group-standard bidding system; a novice should please take time to study all basic openings and responses shown above, plus standard Jacoby Transfer (http://www.bridgebum.com/jacoby_transfers.php) and Stayman (http://www.bridgebum.com/stayman.php) responses to NT openings. We will expect a verbal alert on deviations an expert may make to these most-common conventions.

Freeform Gaming Online
Freeform Gaming Online
The historic Boardgame And RPG Enthusiasts Group is organizing online boardgames each wednesday, at 8:30 pm - 11:30pm on their online discord. Join a welcoming community for folk near and far, young and old, of every shape, ability, and gender identity, as they enjoy digital boardgames and chatting in our discord voice channel to build a fun online community, centered around boardgames and roleplaying games. Chatting in the discord requires a microphone for your personal computer and a discord account. You can join our discord for free at the following web address. [https://discord.gg/nagJvNAmvs](https://discord.gg/nagJvNAmvs) There are many different methods we use to play board games online, but the most common is a free website, Boardgame Arena. It is accessible through an app or from most web browsers, and facilitates live games of over 480 of the most popular boardgames. It's easy to use! All you need is an email address and you can sign up for a free account here: [https://en.boardgamearena.com/account?page=newuser](https://en.boardgamearena.com/account?page=newuser) Some games often played by members on BGA include, but are not limited to; Innovation, Space Base, Railroad Ink, Race for the Galaxy, 7 Wonders, Welcome To, and many more. We also use the discord to coordinate future events, and with the recent access to widespread vaccination we are in the process of carefully opening up some live and in-person events. Come join us to be a part of the planning, or just for the most recent updates! This meeting will be a freeform gaming event. Freeform Gaming meetings are open gaming events where everyone is welcome (and encouraged!) to suggest any games they would like to play. If you suggest a game, please be prepared to teach it to others, or make it clear up front if it will be a learning game for everyone. Rules lawyers and game-crappers should feel free to stay home. To attend, all that we ask is that you review the Group Guidelines ([http://www.meetup.com/bn-bareg/messages/boards/thread/4892770](http://www.meetup.com/bn-bareg/messages/boards/thread/4892770)). While not required, RSVPing helps let us plan how to break up groups for games ahead of time. Knowing beforehand, if we have room for a 6 player game of Codenames, or if someone is wanting to play a 5 player game of Terraforming Mars, makes things a little easier to plan. We hope to see you there!
Dharma Wednesdays
Dharma Wednesdays
Dharma Wednesdays is an on-going community exploration of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Taken from different translations, one or two Sutras are presented each week, many addressing current events and others shedding light on navigating the spiritual path. Each class includes discussion, meditation or visualization, and connection with like-minded souls. No previous experience is necessary. Topics include the 8 Limbed Path, Kriya Yoga, meditation methods, karma, ignorance, discernment and the promise that future suffering can be avoided. Please look for timely messages that announce that week's topic. To attend, please click on the link under "Online Event" to receive a Zoom invite for the class. This meeting is by donation. @Beth-Hinnen (Venmo) Thank you for your interest and I look forward to meeting you.
