Since you're in Kyoto, why not enjoy New Year's Eve and the first sunrise that can only be found here?
Take a look at our last year's event: https://www.meetup.com/ja-jp/guide-you-deep-kyoto/events/305038869

On New Year's Eve, the 108 worldly desires that people have are brought out with the New Year's bell.
Not only that, here at Hyakumanben Chion-ji Temple, we will hold a large prayer ring📿.
This is a prayer ring made by spinning 1080 prayer beads, approximately 100 meters long and weighing approximately 350 kg.

After warming up with amazake(sweet sake), head to Shimogamo Shrine (World Heritage Site)
Warm yourself up by the big bonfire and worship
What do you wish for in the new year?

Walking along the Kamo River at night and having a light meal(not included)
If you don't mind, please take a nap in my room at the foot of Funaokayama Hill.
5 minutes walk to the summit of Funaokayama Hill. Join the people of Kyoto and watch the first sunrise of the year from Mt. Hiei and Mt. Daimonji. From the top of the hill, you can see everything about the Gozan Okuribi Mountain except for the torii gate.

If you leave midway through the session, we will refund you 500 yen, so be sure to ask for a 500 yen refund.
