🔶Description:
Let’s relax at a historic church quietly standing in the business district, then cross Suidobashi Bridge to reach a "hanging garden" where roses are in full bloom.
All admissions are free.
Part 1: Catholic Kanda Church – Stained Glass in a Stone Cathedral
Built in 1928, this church is a precious Registered Tangible Cultural Property that escaped the fires of war.
Highlights: Inside the cathedral, the bright May light colors the floor vividly through the stained glass. It is one of the few places in Tokyo where you can see the contrast between the powerful Romanesque exterior and the ornate Renaissance interior firsthand.
Part 2: Hongo Kyusuijo Park – A "Hanging Garden" with 300 Roses
After experiencing the silence of the church, we will walk up the hill to a park built atop a water supply facility.
Highlights: Around May 16th is the best season, as the roses reach full bloom. Approximately 300 roses of 50 different varieties arranged in a French-style garden will welcome us alongside the sound of fountains.
Hidden Structure: This garden is actually an "artificial park" built on soil placed over an active water distribution station. You can enjoy a landscape where urban infrastructure and a beautiful rose garden coexist in a fusion of functional beauty and nature.
