Permaculture is a design system for creating sustainable human habitats, in harmony with the larger ecosystems of which they are a part. Anyone can use it: starting where they are, with what they have.
This group is a great place to learn about regenerative design, urban agriculture, animal husbandry, edible fungi, bioremediation, aquaculture, rainwater harvesting, local food systems, alternative economics, community living, soil-building, and much much more. We try to offer one-off learning opportunities, educational work parties and opportunities to take a course to get your Permaculture Design Certificate.

Come join us for a tour of two NE Portland Food Forests with the Portland Food Forest Initiative!
Get ready to explore the wonders of sustainable urban agriculture and urban food forestry. Located near 5700 NE Alberta St (you'll receive an email with exact address before the tour), this in-person tour will showcase the beauty, benefits, and complexities of urban syntropic agroforestry and forest garden food forests in the urban environment.
Learn about permaculture, unusual and unexpectedly edible plants, and how we can create a more sustainable, resilient, nutrient-dense future that supports multi-species communities, food security, social cohesion, and connection to land.

To ensure that those who sign up actually show up, we’ve started charging a nominal fee of $10 for each person for these tours. With this in mind, we will refund your $10 when you attend the tour you signed up for (unless you want to make it a donation). If you're unable to afford the cost of a ticket, please email pdxfoodforest@gmail.com and we will likely be able to accommodate you. Ticket sales fund our 501c3 non-profit organization.
