© Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2025 E & OE시작되지 않음 - The Mountains and Escarpments of the Brecon Beacons National Park 2 DAY WEEKENDWern Watkin Bunkhouse, CrickhowellGBP 159.00
To see other attendees on the trip, please check the following LINK
We're off to the Brecon Beacons National park to show you the best of this mountain range
This is one of three trips we organise to very different areas of this fabulous mountain range. This one to the central Brecons takes in both the most popular and on the second day arguably the most undiscovered walk in this National Park.
Our guide Graham knows his area very well having spent 4 years living close by and he's done the main hike on this trip over 31 times.
We’ll spend the first day hiking over the mountains that surround the Neuadd reservoir. Our second day is saved for the beautiful Llangattock Escarpment set behind our hostel. We'll also have dinner in the gorgeous setting of our remote converted barn - the only 5 star rated hostel in the UK with ensuite rooms.
HIGHLIGHTS
- 2 gorgeous and contrasting hikes high in the Brecon Beacons National Park
- Stay in a lovely converted stone barn eco hostel - awarded the Greenest hostel in the UK status in 2013
- A fully catered trip - you can leave your purse/wallet at home
- A closer trip than usual - only about 3 hours driving from London
- Hike the iconic Brecons Horseshoe
- Enjoy gorgeous scenery passing along the Llangattock Escarpment
- Smaller trip than usual, 32 attendees
WEEKEND DESCRIPTION
The Horseshoe walk is the most popular in the Brecon Beacons and it's easy to see why with staggering views as it takes in 3 mountain peaks. Having hiked the entire National Park extensively, it's the guide's personal favourite. It's fairly tough but offers breath taking views over the flat land to the North and back into the Brecon Beacons mountain range and on a clear day you can even see the sea and Gower Peninsula.
We are staying in one of the only 5 star hostels in the UK - a converted stone barn remote in the Brecon Beacons. With an ultra low carbon footprint, this eco hostel has been awarded the Greenest hostel in the UK status in 2013. To fully enjoy our rural mountainous setting and so that everyone can get to know each other, we will be enjoying a group meal in the evening.
On the last day we hike from the hostel along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal and then up to the escarpment of Llangattock with far reaching views. For convenience we hike straight from the hostel with no driving and finish early afternoon so we can get back home at a good time.

To see other attendees on the trip, please check the following LINK
Welcome to the Pyrenees – a majestic natural frontier between Spain and France, stretching nearly 500 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean sea, an ancient mountain range older than the Alps and more dramatic than any postcard could capture. Imagine a landscape where ancient mountains whisper tales of geological wonder, rugged peaks pierce the sky, and hidden valleys cradle secrets of millennia. This is not just a mountain range – it's a living, breathing testament to the raw and immense beauty of nature, a 55,000 km² canvas painted with glacial valleys, thundering waterfalls, awe inspiring canyons and razor-sharp peaks.
To the west of this rugged wilderness lies the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its unparalleled mountain beauty and it offers some of the most stunning and jaw dropping hiking in this range. Here, 3,000m deep valleys cradle Monte Perdido's peak at 3,348 meters, surrounded by a dozen summits that challenge the very definition of mountain majesty.
The trails here are breathtaking and we take in mountain summits towering over the valleys and meadows below, waterfalls, lakes and a huge canyon. Join us on a week of adventure and discover this incredible region.

The Spanish Pyrenees - a mountainous region bordering France and Spain has a rich and diverse culture and history dating back even beyond the Romans and Greeks.
The Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido is the region we are exploring and is a protected area. It is one of the highlights of the Pyrenees and its mountain landscape is characterised with sharp rugged mountains and deep canyons with raised mountain plateaus.
There is a charming blend of ancient mountain villages, jagged and dramatic rocky peaks, lush valley pastures and unique alpine wildlife. These ancient mountains are much older than the Alps. The aridity of the upper mountains contrasts with the green valleys with pastures and woods. The fresh mountain rivers gush from high altitudes with spectacular waterfalls along their routes, through canyons and gorges until the reach the sea near the Bay of Biscay.
Our trip will see highlights of this region, with hikes that take in lakes, summits, waterfalls canyons and woodland.
