Hike & Pictures | Castles & Dunes @Heemskerk - Noordhollands Duinreservaat

Join us for a special hike combining history and nature! We’ll start at Heemskerk Station and visit two beautiful Dutch landmarks: Kasteel Assumburg (with flower garden!) and Landgoed Marquette. These castles are surrounded by peaceful gardens and charming forest paths, which is perfect for photography and exploring. Lead by Paula, who lives in this area for the majority of her life.

After our castles, we’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch break before heading into the Noordhollands Duinreservaat for those who want a more adventurous route. This area is known for its stunning dune landscapes and wide-open nature.

💡 You have two options:

• 10 km (Easy): Explore the castles and surrounding area, then wrap up after lunch.
• 20 km (Intermediate): Continue with us into the dunes for a longer, more scenic hike. This hike will have a little less stops.

This hike has something for everyone: history lovers, nature enthusiasts, and those wanting a relaxed or more active day out.

Reminder: Hike means long walk. The walk is going to take long, but we will have enough breaks to take pictures and eat.

Details:

• Meeting Point: Amsterdam Central Station (8:56am platform 2) or Heemskerk at 9:45. Free parking!
• Final Point: Near the dunes, Heemskerk Duinweg is the road where you can take the bus to the train station.
• What to bring:
• Water and snacks
• A camera (or phone camera) if you’d like to take photos
• Comfortable walking shoes (it can be hilly)
• Sun protection
• A good mood! 😊

Other info:

• Dogs are allowed in the Dunes and first castle area, but not on the second castle. If you are planning to join the dunes, you could do an alternative route to the lunch place with your dog and join us at the entrance of the dunes. Let me know if you would like to bring a dog and which part of the hike you would like to join, perhaps i can help with a solution.
• This is a casual, inclusive, and creative meetup. no photography experience needed.
• Expect easy to moderate walking paths and lots of opportunities to enjoy nature and snap beautiful pictures. But also Dunes and a more challenging (but fun) route.
