The goal of this meetup group is to focus more on in-depth discussions and thought-provoking philosophical arguments. Nothing is sacred but at the same time respect is an essential factor.
We cannot discuss a topic in-depth without having enough knowledge first, so in events of this meetup group, we will focus on a chapter or two of a book that we read beforehand and then we discuss what we learned and our thoughts over a cup coffee, what can be better than that?! In a world that everything should be fast and easy, we will go against this flow, slowly, with deliberation and that's what counts!

Karl Popper on Falsification and Underdetermination
The Living Kitchen by Zoku Amsterdam, Weesperstraat 105 6th Floor, 1018 VN, 105, Amsterdam, NLIn this session, we’ll explore two central challenges in the philosophy of science: Karl Popper’s falsificationism and the problem of underdetermination. Popper argued that scientific theories should make predictions that could, in principle, prove them wrong. But what happens when a prediction fails? Does this mean the theory is false, or could the problem lie in the assumptions behind the test? We’ll examine why evidence does not always point to a single explanation, and what this means for scientific objectivity and rational belief. Together, we’ll discuss how scientists should respond to conflicting evidence, what makes a theory genuinely testable, and whether evidence alone can determine which theory we should accept.
