Synopsis:
When high school student Johanne falls deeply in love with her French teacher, she decides to document her feelings and experiences in a diary. Dreams is the third and final installment of the Norwegian trilogy Sex, Dreams (Drømmer), and Love (Kjærlighet), about love and sexuality (all films can be watched seperately). This film was the winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
After Johanne has essentially written a novel about her feelings and experiences with her French teacher, she decides to let her grandmother read it, desperate for someone to know about it. Her grandmother is so impressed with the literary qualities of the book that she wants to get it published, being a poet herself. She shows the book to Johanne’s mother, but instead of being impressed like her grandmother, she is concerned with whether the graphically described scenes between Johanne and her teacher actually took place or not. While the three women discuss the contents of the book and whether to publish it, Johanne tries to get a grip on her romantic fantasies.
