The Open Filmmaking Network ( www.openfilmmakingnetwork.nl ) is the place to be in The Netherlands if filmmaking is your passion and you want to connect to kindred spirits. Join us on our new Discord server.
Based in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and founded in April 2018 as the Filmmaking Meetup, we are a non-profit, collective breeding ground for new films made by passionate filmmakers from beginner to professional. Numerous successful films have already been realized by filmmakers who met and started collaborating here. New friendships have been formed as well.
From shorts to documentary & animation or experimental, anything goes.
No matter if you are just starting out, or if you are a (more or less) experienced actor, writer, director, composer, sound designer, or ...

Calling creative minds!
Today's Meetup is all about writing. During this Meetup, we will brainstorm, collaborate, and develop several short stories (in the form of a log line plus synopsis) in one or more writing teams, and evaluate these together. Our goal for the day is to have at least one workable story ready at the conclusion of the afternoon. After careful review, the best short story will be developed into a short screenplay / shooting script (3 pages maximum) and filmed (by a yet to be determined cast and crew) during the next Meetup. The one and only creative limitation, is that one aspect of the film is already set and will be revealed during the Meetup.
The language of the shorts will be English by default, but there is an option to form groups who write in other languages (like Spanish, French, Dutch, German, Ukrainian, you name it...)
This will be the 4th time we organize a writer's Meetup. Previously:
Let’s write something good! on Saturday, February 17, 2024, resulted in the short "Don't Look Back!" by team Yufei Wang (in production at the moment).
Let’s write something awesome! on Monday, September 6, 2021, resulted in the short "Absent Driver" by team László Lenhardt.
Let’s write something good! on Sunday, February 23, 2020, resulted in the short "Forgiveness" by team Özgür Tasoluk.
So bring your creative mind and favorite writing tools to this Meetup and see you then!
