Sixty Plus and Smiling

Would anyone like to spend Memorial Day weekend at Little Old Lady (LOL) Farm in western New York? Woods, fields, a big pond (with a beaver1), a quiet backporch where you can watch 12 or more species of birds, a sauna in the barn. It's just east of Erie, between Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake... about 2.5 hours from Pittsburgh. There are wineries everywhere and good food. I have a cabin with a queen bed, a futon, a shower and a simple kitchen, a guest room in my house with either two twins or a queen, and one more queen, either in the house or in a cabin with a flush toilet outhouse. The ideal group would be 3 to 5 people. Car pooling might make sense.

For the holiday weekend, there is an art crawl all over the area and along the Lake Erie shore. While visiting galleries, we can make one or more stops at the wineries. If the weather is good, I'll grill salmon Saturday night and we'll have a campfire.

You're invited to our home for our annual "Spring Fling" party. This year it will be on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. It will begin around 3pm and we'll have a casual early-ish dinner.

We'll prepare most of the food, and if you have a small side dish / dessert that you'd like to bring, that would be nice. But you certainly don't have to bring anything.

This year, I'm trying out a modified sign-up method, intending to keep a few spots open for members who have never signed up for our parties before.

I will be gradually moving people from the "Wait List" to "Going". We expect to have about 20 people altogether, including some non-Meetup friends.

I am making this on May 26 so that you will be sure to vote in the primary election on May 19.

Please only sign up if you are serious about being there and will show up. We can have 6 people on our team.

Turn into Bakery Square from Penn Ave, and the restaurant Tako Torta is right in front of you. Turn right and look for a place to park outside - I have talked to security and to the owner of Bakery Square, and both tell me that the spaces are not monitored, at least at night. Ignore the signs that say that you can only park for 1 hour.

We will have a team of 6 players. It is very important that you show up, if you sign up. If you cannot come, it is important that you change your RSVP to "not coming". If you are on the waitlist, watch to see if you are moved to coming, if someone cancels. You can also cancel from the waitlist if you will not be able to come, so someone else can take a space that might open.

We will meet at 6 pm, to get the comfortable seats in front of the screen, and to share a meal. Trivia starts at 7 pm. If you cannot come till closer to 7 pm, let us know, but be there by 7 pm at the latest - your team needs you.
