We are the Federal Center Toastmasters Club. We meet the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday of each month in Hyattsville, MD, from 12 noon to 1pm. Our meetings are held at the headquarters of the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics of the CDC. Our meetings are open to the public, though visitors must go through building security procedures. The terrain is mostly flat and is ideal for new and advance hikers. This trail is approximately 4-5 miles and pets are allowed. **Wheaton Regional Park** \| 2002 Shorefield Rd\. The terrain is mostly flat with several rolling hills. This trail is a loop trail approximately 5-6 miles in length. **CAN BEGINNERS ATTEND THIS HIKE:** Yes, this is a intermediate level hike but beginners can handle the hike. **WHAT IS THE PACE OF THE GROUP:** The group pace will be moderate and may break up into two pace groups (fast or slow). We will have hike leaders mixed within the group and we will stop periodically for water and rest. **WHAT TYPE OF HIKE IS THIS:** This is a loop trail hike and will start and end at the same location **ARE PETS ALLOWED:** Yes **IS PARKING FREE:** Parking is free but we suggest you arrive as early as possible to secure a good parking space **WHAT SHOULD I WEAR:** A good rule of thumb is to dress comfortably and in layers. Dressing in layers will allow you to stay warm when your cold and as you warm up, you can take off layers and not over heat. Located in the Clocktower building, there is plenty free of parking in the area. Breakers Sky Lounge has a HUGE open mingling area with tons of tables, chairs, and couches—all of which can be moved around—as well as a large dance floor. The high ceiling and efficient air control keep the space cool and pleasant for chatting without having to scream over each other. Hey Poetry Lovers! This group is on a roll. Here’s the gist: We meet at the **Capital One Café in Chinatown** from **12pm - 2pm** every other week. For enrichment, we start by reading and reflecting on a **“published poem”**, suggested by someone in the group. No advance preparation is necessary. A Starfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st- through 2nd-level characters, playable in 2-3 hours. First Seeker Sarmak has called on the scientist Dr. Heldin Sevaille to create an inoculation for an process known as “conversion” which is transforming wildlife and residents of the Sloughscar Hills into monsters in the service of the Wreck of the Returned. The final ingredient Dr. Sevaille requires is found in a remote forest called Ste Xinnith on Marata, one of Bretheda’s moons. Dr. Sevaille dispatches a team of Starfinders to collect samples of this rare plant with the aid of a few local scientists. But trouble is brewing in Ste Xinnith… Frozen Trove, a Triaxian biotech corporation notorious for unethical and illegal methods that damage environments to maximize profits, has established a laboratory in the area, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. We’ve created a great little community of Movie Group friends! Rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve people in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: CHAMPION FOOD PANTRY: The Champion Food Pantry provides needed food to neighbors experiencing food insecurity. For this event, we’ll be volunteering to help with Food Distribution during client pick up times. Our group will receive on-the-spot training from some of their seasoned regular volunteers. PLAN FOR CHAMPION FOOD PANTRY: Please arrive by 2:45pm. Our volunteer time will be from 3:00 to 6:00pm. LOCATION & PARKING: The Champion Food Pantry is located at 1460 S. Champion Ave in Columbus.
