Suitable for players who enjoy competitive rallies, consistent match play, and pushing their game to the next level. **Skill Level** Open to intermediate-level and above players who can sustain good rallies and serve consistently. These classes focus on weapon practice. Many aikido techniques have their origin in weapons handling and thus are related with Japanese weapon arts like Kendo. Using a weapon as an extension of the hand, it generates higher impact speed and creates different danger and distance perception. On the other side, perfection of cuts and draws is a very meditational and focused practice. Despite danger, the mind should stay clear and movements should be very precise. As a result of weapons training, students polish their hands and body technique – with more precise movement, coordination and martial awareness. **For ages 13 and above.** These classes will cover: * Kihon (Basics) * Kata (Form) * Kumite (Sparring) **Kihon** is essential to all advanced training. It includes the practice of correct body form and breathing; while practising basics such as stances, punches, kicks, blocks, and thrusts at the same time. **Kata** is a form of ritualized self-training in which patterned or memorized movements are done in order to practice a form of combat maneuvering. **Kumite**, or sparring, is an important part of kyokushin training. High emphasis is placed on full contact sparring which is mostly done without any gloves or protective equipment, especially for senior level trainings. **For ages 10 and above.** This class works on the highest level of physical conditioning, or “fight conditioning”, in a no-contact setting (ie. no sparring).
