**From ClickOps to Scalable Platform**
For engineers and engineering leaders, on culture and decision making.
Abstract
We ran everything in one Azure subscription. Leads and sales, installations and steering energy systems. Everyone had access. Most resources were created manually. It was unclear who owned what.
As the tech org grew from 100 to 300 people, reinventing security and scaling individually stopped working.
We'll cover how we approached platform building as gardeners rather than architects: observing what already works, replicating it, and letting rituals emerge before encoding them. We'll look at some mistakes we made along the way and what we learned from each.
*Dayana Mick*
**It works… but no one understands it: The hidden problem in DevOps**
For several years, I kept asking the same question to senior developers, staff engineers, and mentors: “What is a build?” I rarely got a clear answer. Not because people didn’t know, but because the mental model had faded somewhere between Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and “just run this command.”
At some point, I realized I could run pipelines, deploy services, and fix things just enough to move forward, but explaining what was actually happening was much harder. And I was not the only one.
This talk is about a pattern I’ve seen across every company I’ve worked at. Systems that work, but are not really understood. Teams running platform commands from memory. Platform teams becoming bottlenecks. Incidents where even experienced engineers hesitate. And situations where people rely on tools without a clear sense of what is actually happening underneath. With AI, this is only accelerating.
This is a talk for anyone who has ever copy-pasted a command, watched it work, and decided not to ask further questions. It is especially relevant for junior and mid-level engineers navigating DevOps complexity, and for teams who are trying to scale tooling without losing shared understanding.

**Agenda of the evening:**
**Welcome and Introductions:** The Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD) often opens the meeting, who welcomes everyone and introduces the meeting's theme or agenda. The TMOD also introduces the key roles and functionaries for that session.
**Prepared Speeches:** A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to prepared speeches. Members working through various projects in the Toastmasters education program deliver speeches based on their chosen projects. Each speech is evaluated by a designated evaluator who provides feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.
**Table Topics:** Table Topics is a segment where impromptu speaking skills are tested. The Table Topics Master presents a series of short, unprepared speaking challenges or questions, and members or guests are invited to come to the podium and give a brief, improvised response.
**Evaluations:** Following the prepared speeches and Table Topics
segment, evaluators provide constructive feedback to speakers. These evaluations focus on content, delivery, body language, and time management. The goal is to help speakers improve their speaking skills.
**Reports and Functionary Roles:** The meeting may include various functionary roles, such as the Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, and others, who report on their observations and contributions to the session. These roles help members improve their language and time management skills.
**General Evaluator:** The General Evaluator provides an overall assessment of the meeting, highlighting what went well and offering suggestions for improvement. They may also evaluate the evaluators' performance.
**Awards and Recognitions:** Toastmasters sessions often conclude with awards and recognitions, including the Best Speaker, Best Evaluator, and Best Table Topics Speaker. These awards encourage members to strive for excellence in their speaking and leadership abilities.
**Closing:** The meeting concludes with closing remarks from the Toastmaster of the Day, who may express gratitude to participants and encourage them to continue their Toastmasters journey.
**Networking and Socialising:** After the formal meeting, members and guests often have the opportunity to network, socialise, and discuss their experiences in a more relaxed setting.

Is the Design Process Really "Dead"? | Product Management Society x Miro Meetups
***🔗 Link to registration: [https://luma.com/s8mfiusl](https://luma.com/s8mfiusl)***
We’re excited to invite you to a special edition of our next meetup - for the first time ever, Product Management Society Berlin is teaming up with Miro 🤝
This session will explore a timely topic: the future of the design process in an era of rapidly increasing production speed. While some chief designers at major companies have declared the design process “dead” or no longer fit for today’s pace, others strongly disagree. What changes when prototypes can be created in minutes? What are the limits? What remains essential?
In the first part, we’ll open the floor to different perspectives from across the room. In the second part, we’ll work together to explore and shape ideas for a more resilient design process.
Whether you're a PM, designer, or simply curious, you’re very welcome to join the discussion and contribute your ideas.
👉 Spots are limited - register on Luma using the link above ^
Looking forward to seeing you there!

.
**Das Buch ist leicht & angenehm geschrieben.**
.
+++++++++++++++++
**🌻 Mehr zum Inhalt**
Manchmal funktionieren Freundschaften nicht, weil man
* sich nicht öffnen kann,
* zu schüchtern ist,
* andere Menschen nicht an sich heran lässt
* klammert
* zu viel will
* wegrennt
* nicht die richtigen Menschen trifft
* schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht hat
* oder oder oder ...
.

🌸 Neurodivergent Spring Cleaning Swap🌸
**Out with the old, in with the "new-you"—through reuse instead of consumption.** As the seasons change, so do our interests and needs. Join us for an assembly in the form of a community swap meet, organized by and for neurodivergent folks to promote sustainability and community care.
**The idea is simple:** maybe you want to clear out your closets, or maybe you just want to meet us at the park to see if anything interests you. Both are perfectly okay! Whether you come with a bag full of treasures or arrive empty-handed just to hang out and browse, you are welcome here.
**Info & Accessibility:**
* **Date/Time:** Saturday, 25th of April, 14:00 - 17:00 (**IF IT RAINS; WE WILL RESCHEDULE**)
* **LOCATION:** The meetup map is not acurate, go to this google map link and find th neurodivergent sign: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/u9rygDgU8ADDR6Ec6](https://maps.app.goo.gl/u9rygDgU8ADDR6Ec6)
* **Access:** accessible for people with reduced mobility.
**Bring items you no longer need (If You Want To), such as:**
* 📚 Books, comics, and zines
* 🧩 Puzzles, board games, and fidget toy
* 👕 Clean clothing, hats, and accessories
* 🖍️ Art supplies and stationary
* 🏠 Housewares or decor
* 🧦 Cozy items (blankets, soft socks)
**How It Works (It's Simple):**
* **Bring a Blanket or small towel:** lay out your items in front of you.
* **Food & drinks to share** (optional)
* **Open Trust System:** Once your items are on your blanket, they are considered "up for grabs."
* **Browse Freely:** Get up, walk around, and explore what others have brought. If you see something you like on someone else's blanket, feel free to take it—even if they aren't there.
* **Enjoy:** Find your next favorite thing, or simply enjoy the sunshine and the company.
* **What's left?** Anything unclaimed at the end must be taken back home.
**The Vibe:**
This is a low-pressure event for neurodivergent people. There's no need to hover over your items or worry about making conversation. You are welcome to wander, stim, sit quietly with a book you just found, or take a break on your blanket whenever you need.
**Community Disclaimer**
This event is a community-led initiative organized by neurodivergent volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and resources to create a welcoming space. We strive to make our events as accessible as possible—both financially and in terms of neurodivergent needs—but we also have our own limitations. We kindly ask for your understanding and empathy, as we rely on the support and cooperation of all participants to foster a healthy, inclusive environment.
**Come swap, find your next special interest, refresh your space, and contribute to a more sustainable community**

Productive Sunday Morning - Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all work welcome)
Hey everyone!
I’m organising a co-working + socialising session for all of us who like to work on something (e.g. our own project, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. 🙂
To ensure that we have both **socialising** AND **working**, we will be using the so called “Pomodoro” technique:
**50min of deep work** (silent), followed by **10min of break** to socialise. Then repeat! If you get into flow, you're also welcome to skip the breaks.
It’s an effective way to stay focused - you can read more about it [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique).
Anyone from any background is welcome, whatever project you are working on or whatever is your personal background.
I (the host) speak English and German, so either is fine :-)
——————————————————-
AGENDA:
* **15min Intro**
* Get to know everyone, talk about what you will work on today
* **Pomodoro Session** (3x) - *Each Pomodoro session consists* *of...*
* ...**50min** of uninterrupted “deep work” (no talking, no interruptions, no phones)
* ...**10min** of break: share your progress with others, talk about what you are stuck on etc.
* Repeat
* Conclude and celebrate your progress
Share your progress, socialise and get to know others 😊
————
We'll be at the Social Hub Berlin (they have a food menu in case you get hungry). The structured part will end at 2:30pm, but you're welcome to stay longer, go for lunch together, or leave earlier. See you there 🩵
**\*\*We'll reserve the long table. Please update your RSVP in advance if you can't attend!\*\***
Vegan Pizza Dinner
Join us for a relaxed vegan pizza dinner at **La Stella Nera**. Easy chat and good food with fellow vegans.
* **Where:** La Stella Nera, Leykestr. 18, 12053 Berlin
* **When:** Wednesday 22 April, 19:00
* **What to do now:** please read the fee note below **before** you RSVP
**€1 event fee (non-refundable)**
The €1 fee helps cover Meetup and small costs; any extra is donated to animal rights NGOs. Send it via the **PayPal details in the comments** **within 48 hours of RSVPing** (only visible to people marked Going). Transfer note: "Meetup Name + Pizza". No PayPal? Message me for the IBAN. **If no fee received within 48 hours, RSVP will be automatically cancelled.**
We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable. Please respect boundaries; harassment or disrespectful behaviour isn’t welcome and will mean removal from future events.
Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all types of work welcome)
Hello! I’m organising a coworking + socialising session for all of us who are working on projects (e.g. our own creations, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. 🙂
To ensure that we have time for both socialising AND working, we will be using the so-called “Pomodoro” technique:
**50 mins deep work** (silent), followed by **10 mins break** to socialise. And then repeat!
You are welcome to join whatever your personal background is, and whatever project you are working on.
I (the host) speak English and German, so either language is fine.
——————————————————-
AGENDA:
* **Short Intro**
Tell us who you are and share something about what you will be working on today
* **Pomodoro Session** \- 3x \(3h\)
Each Pomodoro session consists of 50 mins focused “deep work” (no talking, no interruptions, **phones on silent mode**)
-> then 10 mins break: a chance to share your progress with others
-> Repeat
* **15 mins Wrap Up**
Celebrate what you achieved and get to know others 😊

The location is **Espresso House near Checkpoint Charlie** (they have multiple outlets - so be sure to go to the correct one!)
Wifi + power plugs are available - but best to bring a fully charged laptop, just in case 🙃
You **do not** have to pay anything. But since we are using the café space, it is common courtesy to buy at least one drink (coffee costs roughly **4 Euros**).

Kind Exchange: Vegan Book & Plant Swap
[The Kind Exchange](https://www.facebook.com/events/3087825058070662/)
A gathering to share, swap, and connect with like-minded people who care about plant-based living, sustainability, and mindful choices.
This is more than a swap — it’s a space to circulate what we already have and meet others in the community.
Bring any of the following to share:
* **Vegan-related books** (cookbooks, sustainability, mindful living, etc.)
* **Plants or cuttings** (optional)
Swap for something new-to-you from others. *The more you bring, the more there is to exchange!*
Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly- [https://form.jotform.com/260975490897073](https://form.jotform.com/260975490897073?utm_id=97758_v0_s00_e0_tv4&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExVGxJeFRub0FQNmhUcmF3VnNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4u9YhVWcSkITKfEn_NajeEUIyxFrXbcaG0HjFHoQn-MCxKlhGlUpFAnsMIzw_aem_vo9QISntFpTtGskmWaVEkQ)
Unclaimed books/plants at the end of the event will be donated.
Men's Group meetup
**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.**
How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently?
Then we will go into a topic discussion.

**COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS**
\*\*THERE WILL BE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR NO-SHOWS. IF YOU RSVP TO A MEETING AND FAIL TO SHOW UP WITHOUT NOTICE, YOU'LL BE REMOVED FROM THE GROUP. THIS IS TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THE GROUP\*\*
1. Confidentiality - EVERYTHING that is shared NEVER leaves this space so that this space remains safe and sacred. There is a zero tolerance policy for this. If a man is in violation of this, they will be permanently removed from the group.
2. Non-Judgement - we respect and honor every man’s truth so that we may receive the same from others. While we may not agree on everything, we commit to respecting every man’s perspectives and engaging in honorable discussion with one another.
3. Be committed - honor your commitment to this group and to yourself. If you attend a meeting, please commit yourself fully to the meeting. Also be committed to your own journey. When we fail, we own it & clean it up.
4. Speak from the heart - this is NOT a space to “look good”, have the “right” answers, and have it all together. Relax and know you are not alone. Be exactly who you are within the safety of this space.
5. Be supportive - This means always willing to provide encouragement to your fellow men, encourage action and momentum in each other’s lives.. Be willing to challenge each other. Be willing to hold each other accountable.
6. Participation - what you receive from this community will be a reflection of what you put into it. Period. We ask that you share your perspectives, reflect on others, and give/receive support when and where it’s needed.
