Blue Heron
Set on Vancouver Island in the late 1990s, Blue Heron follows a young girl navigating childhood while slowly becoming aware of the complexities and struggles within her family. Through beautifully observed moments, the film explores themes of memory, identity, immigration, belonging, and the gap between how we remember the past and how it was actually lived. Director Sophy Romvari drew inspiration from her own experiences, giving the story a rare sense of authenticity and emotional depth.
