ROUTE Link Distance: 38 Miles. Ascent: 1720 Feet, Est Avg Speed 15 MPH

Expected End-of-Ride Average Speed: 15 MPH. Note: there is a lot of climbing on the first half of this ride. If you would like to go at a slower pace (~14 mph) and shorter distance (32), then sign up for C&L's C ride that starts at the same location and the same time.

Start/End: Brandi Fenton Park, 3482 E River Rd. Specifically we will be meeting in the parking lot just south of the Memorial Garden. Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in.

Route: 18 miles on roads with good bike lanes or shoulders, the remaining 20 miles on the loop multipurpose path. Starting at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, east on the Rillito, north on Swan, work westward to Magee/Christie, west on Magee, work our way up to the Aquatic Center for a bathroom break, then through Oro Valley country club, west on the CDO, south on the Santa Cruz, then east on the Rillito back to Brandi Fenton Park.

Please join us for the GABA Annual Lunch after the ride at Ramada #6 which near the place you parked. Several different rides are expected to meet at 11:00-11:15 for lunch. You and your significant other (whether they are riding or not) are invited to participate. If you are going to join the luncheon without joining a group ride and or if your significant other is going to join us please send a message to **Luncheon@bikegaba.org** so we can have an accurate headcount. The menu will include but not limited to hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chips, and other snacks. For beverages, there will be water, hot chocolate, coffee, Gatorade or Bring Your Own Beverage (alcohol not allowed). If you would like to bring an appetizer or dessert to the luncheon, please do so.
Note: If you are not a GABA Member and you sign up for the GABA lunch, a small donation to cover the cost of food would be appreciated.

To participate in this GABA group ride you MUST:

  1. Be willing to ride at the posted pace. If you are not comfortable or not capable of this expected pace average over the entire route, please do not participate in this ride, it is not fair to the other riders.
  2. Be willing to serve as the ride sweep for a small portion of the ride.
  3. Use the phrase "walker/bike up" when overtaking someone.
  4. Use the phrase "walker/bike left" when approaching someone coming at us. This should be used when on narrow parts of multiuse paths.
  5. Stay right of the center line on multiuse paths and right of the white line while on the road except to pass.
  6. Give at least 3 feet when passing someone walking or riding in the same direction.
  7. Obey traffic laws.
  8. Represent GABA well.

If any of these standards are unclear, ask for clarification. Route subject to change based upon, weather, road conditions, group requests, and or the ride leader getting lost.

IMPORTANT: If you have not ridden with Ed before, please send your contact information (Name, phone number, emergency contact, emergency contact phone number (NOT 911) to Ed at erschultz@gmail.com. The combined ride waiver will be filled out prior to the ride, you will need to verify the information and sign it.

If you sign up for the ride and are running a couple of minutes late call or text the ride leader: Ed's phone number is 915-238-3188. We will wait up to five minutes before leaving if you call.

What to Bring:
• Food & fluids for 3 hours - 2 24oz Bottles or Hydration Pack.
• Bring a tube/patch kit and a way to inflate your tires.
• Be sure your bike is in good mechanical condition.
• CPSC approved helmets must always be worn while riding.
• No earbuds so that you can hear traffic and the riders around you.
