Talk 1: Fire your frontend framework with Lit!

React, Angular and Vue are the most widely used frontend frameworks these days. But did you know you can build modern frontend applications without any of these big and bulky dependencies? Yes you can, by using Web Components!

During this talk, Wessel will take you on a journey to the heart of the modern web, where standards such as Custom Elements, Declarative Shadow DOM and HTML Templates define the next big thing in frontend development. Using a small utility library called Lit, you will learn to love the native web just like Google, Adobe, SAP and ING have.

About the speaker: Wessel Loth
Wessel is a Lead Developer at Arcady, a Dutch IT consultancy firm based in Zwolle. He loves diversity in his work, working on anything between micro-frontend to distributed backend. Wessel works as a Lead Developer at Agrifirm using technologies like Angular, .NET and Azure.

Previously, Wessel worked at ING Investments as the Lead Frontend Platform Engineer focusing on delivering a future-proof investment platform built with Web Components using Lit and Polymer.

Talk 2: Testing Absolute Units
Isn't writing tests hard? As much as we believe in testing, tests make our life difficult. Too much boilerplate, too rigid, tee dee dee is not for me.
Don't you wonder sometimes: what am I even writing tests for?
Worry not! Fear no more! So do I! Fortunately there are tricks that can make our life easy. In fact, with the right approach, tests are the only thing you have to think about... Wouldn't you love to just chill like that?

Let's discuss the pain of development without and with tests. Let's deal with testing Absolute Units.

About the speaker: Pim Elshoff
Like you, Pim is on a quest to do things a little bit better every time. As a scrum developer, he has extensive experience with solid coding, patient mentoring and tackling big projects using Domain Driven Design.

Presentations by Pim are always fun, engaging and conversational. But don't fret; if you just want to listen and let others speak, it will be worth your time.

Pim joined Superscript in 2022 where the complexities of tech and insurance meet each other in the ❤️ of software.
