The real challenge of refactoring large Flutter projects is when you have to introduce changes across many active repositories, with dozens of developers contributing in parallel. The key is a balance between the code quality improvements and keeping the system stable.
You’ll walk away with pragmatic strategies and tools from large-scale banking app refactors. We'll show you how to make sweeping changes feel less scary - and maybe even fun!

In this presentation, I’ll walk you through our journey of integrating the first Flutter module into the Otomoto app. I’ll explain why we chose Flutter for this part of the application and then dive into the how from architecture decisions to technical implementation. Topics will include using Flutter entry points, managing multiple Flutter engines, and leveraging Pigeon for communication between Flutter and native code. Whether you’re considering adding Flutter to an existing app or just curious about hybrid development challenges, this session will provide practical insights and real-world solutions.

Abstract:
Flutter is known for its straightforward approach to creating applications - you write it once, and run the same, unified UI across multiple platforms. While in some projects your design team may specify every single transition and animation, more often than not, that’s not the case. In such cases, it may be the developer’s responsibility to fill the gaps to provide users with the most polished, outstanding experience. In this session, we will go through the alternative color systems, non-linear gradients, and we will utilize widget bindings to improve the loading states of our images. Moreover, we will look into enhancing the shapes of our UI elements, taking advantage of the latest features provided by Flutter, like the new super-ellipse shape, or by matching border radii of nested widgets.
