The Future of Computing

Szczegóły

The lecture will cover the path forward in computing which contains heterogeneous systems and the new types of computing like neuromorphic systems as well as quantum computing.

Lecture will be given in English as part of KQIS - Kraków Quantum Informatics Seminar: https://www.informatyka.agh.edu.pl/en/kqi-seminars/.

This is an open seminar and everyone is invited ;)

The lecture will be given by Heike Riel.

Heike is a distinguished scientist known for advancing the frontiers of information technology through the physical sciences. She is an IBM Fellow and the Department Head of Science & Technology at IBM Research. Her responsibilities include leading the research agenda of the Science & Technology department with the goal of creating scientific and technological breakthroughs in the Physics of Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing and Technologies, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Precision Diagnostics and Smart System Integration.
In a previous role, she established the technical research agenda of the IBM Research Frontiers Institute – a global research consortium comprising international industry partners focused on developing groundbreaking computing technologies. Furthermore, she has led research and development efforts to build end-to-end solutions for IoT applications starting from the differentiated sensor device to the leading-edge data analysis for developing artificial intelligence solutions.
She earned a PhD in Physics from University of Bayreuth (Germany) and an MBA from Henley Business College (UK). She has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications, filed more than 50 patents and received several major awards.
