Sziasztok!

Szeretnénk mindenkit meginvitálni a Budapest Users of R Network meetupjára, június 29, szerda 18:00-ra.

A meetup leírását alább találjátok, az esemény linkjét pedig itt:

Current list of planned talks:

  • Ágoston Reguly (CEU): Introducing students to data analysis with R

I have put together an R coding lecture at CEU to introduce students to coding with R. Now it is officially available at github: https://github.com/gabors-data-analysis/da-coding-rstats I would love to share the logic behind the course and would be curious about feedbacks

  • Berta Böjte (Starschema): Q-method - A special kind of Factor Analysis

During my thesis I conducted an analytical study of an e-learning system using the so called Q-method. It's a special case for factor analysis that helps identify opinions about a topic. The language of the analysis was R, building on data.table and the qmethod package, which is created especially to support these kind of analysis. In my talk I would like to briefly introduce this analytical method and how the mentioned R package made it really easy to execute.

  • Gergely Daroczi (Rx Studio Inc): Internationalization of R packages

Quick demo on r18r (R package to extract terms to be translated from R packages and manage translations along with translator comments) and Weblate (web frontend to translate PO files).

  • Kristof Kelemen: ggprism

I was challenged recently with a task to produce figures similar to GraphPad Prism output and stumbled upon ggprism package. While this might sound too specific, there is some merit to its functions for all those who want to produce nice-looking graphs with high information content.

  • Dénes Tóth: R in Visual Studio Code

In the R world, RStudio IDE is the most beloved development environment tool, whereas outside of it, it is Visual Studio Code which takes the lead. In this talk I will present its R extension (vscode-R) and why (and when) you should consider to switch to it.

After a long break, we are rebooting the R meetup and I am really looking forward to meeting you all again in person!

Instead of hosting a longer technical talk, we decided to have multiple shorter talks this time, where any member of the community can share about an R package, an R-based project, or simply about their passion for R.

If interested in giving a 5 mins talk (freestyle, either in Hungarian or English), please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/gMXypczqZoLbVaYD7

If not willing to speak this time -- no worries, please join us for the talks and the networking event afterwards.

This meetup is kindly hosted at and sponsored by CEU. Food (pogacsa) and drinks (beer, wine, mineral water) will be served onsite after the talks, and we will also make table reservations in a nearby pub after 8.30 pm.
