The Alliance is part of the Greater Central Ohio Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We are an all-voices chorus dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all those who love to sing, regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation or musical background. The Alliance is the first and only all-voices barbershop chorus in Central Ohio. **Who:** Anyone with a passion for singing at a high level. Previous barbershop chorus/quartet experience not required. **When:** The Alliance rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7pm-10pm. **Where:** Lord Of Life Lutheran Church: 2480 W Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43235 To become a full member of The Alliance, we welcome you to start by visiting us for a few rehearsals to experience the group and sing with us! Then, you may begin the 2-part audition process for membership: the assessement, and audition. Hi Ladies , Let's Hike Blendon Woods Metro Park . We will meet at the nature center parking lot. Hiking about 4 miles completing the blendon woods loop and the sugarbush trail . Wear appropriate footwear and bring water for hydration .

This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator. Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. **🦋 Local Book Club: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid — Open to All** This month we're getting together to share reactions to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, our selection by Taylor Jenkins Reid in a no-pressure setting where every view is welcome, and you rarely leave without a new perspective. Even a partial read is more than enough to contribute, and bring the lines that you think the group will find interesting, and bring your reading notes — because unfiltered reactions tend to open up the most interesting threads. The group is open to anyone interested — and you will find the group easy to talk with from the start, everything else is taken care of once you are in the room, and the relaxed setting means there is no pressure on you. Everything is open for debate — with all opinions treated as equally valid, and every reading of the same book turns out to be a different book. --- **Good to bring:** - A drink if you are bringing one — the evening can run long - Your copy of the book (physical or digital) - Anything you underlined or wanted to come back to - Your genuine reactions however complicated 💡 **Quick tip:** write down the one thing you would ask the author if you could, so you have something concrete to anchor your contribution, and the session repays whatever small preparation you put in. --- 🪴 A great discussion changes how you see a great book — grab a spot and bring the book and the rest is just a good evening with good people. **Our June novel is: *The Eights* by Joanna Miller** **This month’s novel is set during World War I. It’s a 20th-century historical fiction story about friendship and war, with coming-of-age elements and a slightly haunted tone. Our June read is ***Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible*** ***Voyage*** **by Alfred Lansing.** A work of nonfiction, and one of the most astonishing survival stories in history, we follow Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew after their ship is crushed by Antarctic ice. Stranded in one of the harshest environments on Earth, the men endure months of isolation, freezing temperatures, and near starvation—yet refuse to give up hope. Lansing brings their ordeal to life through vivid detail and firsthand accounts, capturing both the brutality of nature and the resilience of the human spirit.
