Thames Blue Moon Ritual - Woodland witches (Southbank, London)
Monthly Full moon Circle in central London. 7pm meet by Millennium Bridge. Ritual by riverbank. Beginners & Wicca Seekers welcome
Join our Full moon ritual (monthly Wicca Circle) on the banks of river Thames, to set up altar, invoke the Triple moon Goddess and do magic at the heart of London.
These rituals are suitable for beginners and all interested in Paganism, Wicca & Ritual Magic. Facilitated by Mani (Wiccan Highpriest) & Woodland Witches ritual team, these rituals also provide an opportunity to take on some roles and gain ritual experiences over time.
* **We operate a STRICTLY NO DRUGS policy at all times \*\*** .
**RITUAL what to expect** \-\-\-\-
* We start with a brief **pathworking** \- a guided visualisation for stillness and energy opening \(the \`Tree pathworking'\)\. This is followed by **consecration** where each person is blessed with consecrated water & incense. Then a **magic circle** is cast with a lantern & group words, and visualisation of a protective bubble / sphere around us. **Elements** Air, fire, water, earth are called with Quarter-Guardians' help, in east, south, west, north. We raise **group energy** with easy chants while circling around the altar.
*
* Then call on \*\* **Goddess** \*\* energies. A pre-arranged person takes on the role of the Moon Goddess. 4-5 ladies of attendees may be asked to take on Goddess-support roles, circling the Goddess and using Goddess related chants to raise energy. (Attending men circle the central Goddess assembly and add to chants and invocation led by a Priest / facilitator).
*
* We then have a moment for some **magic/ spell working**. This varies each time- and may involve 2-3 Rune chants (for protection, wealth, strength, love, Joy). We may do other spell working as well as some healing work
*
* **Feasting & social:** We finish the ceremony with communal blessing of all the food & drinks people brought, share some thoughts/ feed-back, then close circle and feast.
* We ask all to help **Tidy up the space, t**ake any unopened food/ drinks home, and put rubbish in bins (on thames pavements). This would help organisers greatly. thank you.

🥾 **Hike Description**
We set off from **Cookham** and soon make our way into the enchanting Bisham Woods, once part of the Royal Forest of Windsor. Steeped in history and folklore, these ancient woods were said to be haunted by Lady Hoby and inspired Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows. Rich in flora and wildlife, they provide a beautiful opening to our walk.
Climbing to **Winter Hill**, we enjoy sweeping views across the Thames Valley before descending to the river. The path then leads us through meadows and marshland, past the ancient burial mounds of **Cock Marsh**, before arriving in the historic heart of Cookham village, famously described by Stanley Spencer as “a village in heaven.” Here we pause for lunch, with time to explore the charming streets, Spencer’s gallery, and Holy Trinity Church where the artist is commemorated, as well as a visit to a traditional pub.
After lunch, we rejoin the **Thames Path**, widely regarded as one of the most photogenic stretches of the river. The route meanders alongside the water, skirting the edge of the grand **Cliveden Estate**, once a ducal residence and later the setting of the notorious 1960s Profumo Affair.
Our hike continues along the river past **Boulters Lock**, a lively boating hub once popular with Victorian high society, before reaching **Maidenhead**. The finale is at Brunel’s magnificent **1835 railway bridge**, a pioneering feat of Victorian engineering and a fitting close to a day rich in riverside scenery, history and culture.

London's Lost Rivers - Walk the River Walbrook!
Come along on Sunday 31st May for a guided walk/hike, walking the route of one of London's lost rivers - the River Walbrook!
**About the walk**
We will walk the entire length of the river (about 2 miles), from its source to where it enters the River Thames. The Walbrook is unfortunately completely covered and is now part of sewer system since the 1860's.
The walk is part hike/part guided, so starting at its source in Shoreditch, we will follow its route and on the way I will show you points of interest which would have been on the banks of the River Walbrook and tell you more about them.
**The River Walbrook**
The meaning comes from *'weala broc'* meaning '*brook of the foreigners'* which is what the invading Romans took to mean the native Britons.
Despite being one of the shortest rivers to flow through London, the River Walbrook is counted as a major waterway, as it carved a route right through Roman Londinium. The exact location of the source of the river is of great dispute, although evidence suggests it is somewhere on Holywell Hill in Shoreditch. It was an important part of the Roman city providing fresh water to the Roman citizens.
We will walk about 2 miles, so sensible shoes are advised. The terrain is pavements. The walk finishes near Cannon Street Station.
**Payment**
Full Members of the group will be free, everyone else the cost is £7 per person (payable by cash or credit card on the day).

Feel Good Friday: POWER BALLAD at the Gateway Film Center + SHAKE NO. 8!
Join us as we get together to see Paul Rudd in the latest comedy-drama-musical from John Carney, POWER BALLAD! The film follows a washed-up wedding singer, a fading boy band singer and a stolen hit song. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. When Danny turns Rick's song into a hit, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. Power Ballad is written/directed by John Carney, the master of the modern musical and creative mind behind Once, Begin Again and Sing Street! It stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu and Jack Reynor.
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival where critics call it “a sure-fired crowd-pleaser” that “just might be the feel-good hit of the year!” Others say, “Paul Rudd delivers a career-best performance in this charmer” that’s both “hilarious and deeply moving." The film continues John Carney’s “long run of success with yet another charmer” and “a sharp, hopeful crowd-pleaser that strikes the right notes!”

Book summary:
On a hot day in Bethlehem, a twelve-year-old Palestinian-American girl is yelled at by a group of men outside the Church of the Nativity. She has exposed her legs in a biblical city, an act they deem forbidden, and their judgement will echo on through her adolescence. When our narrator finally admits to her mother that she is queer, her mother's response only intensifies a sense of shame: 'You exist too much,' she tells her daughter. Told in vignettes that flash between the U.S. and the Middle East--from New York to Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine--Zaina Arafat's debut novel traces her protagonist's progress from blushing teen to sought-after DJ and aspiring writer.
