O nas
Do you love trying new vegetarian & vegan restaurants? Do you enjoy the company of fellow vegetarians & vegans? Are you occasionally frustrated that your meat-eating friends "don't get it," and do you wish to dine with others that have the same enthusiasm for vegetarian and vegan food that you do?
Welcome to our group. What I am especially proud of is all the wonderful members we have. We seem to attract some of the very nicest, most thoughtful people in New York. Given the focus of our group, I am not surprised.
New York has many excellent vegetarian and vegan restaurants, and new ones are opening all the time. Join us as we explore them all, and enjoy dining with some of the kindest, most gracious, most socially-conscious people in New York.
Plus, join us as we go out on the town to vegetarian and vegan friendly bars and lounges. And partake when we go to visit some outstanding music venues. Great ways to have delightful nights on the town in the company of a fun and friendly group of vegetarians and vegans.
We warmly welcome all vegetarians and vegans as well as those that are considering a vegetarian or vegan diet.
Our meetup group was profiled in a news story on CNN's Headline News channel. Check out the video.

Vegan Dinner: Le Botaniste UWS with Picnic in Central Park
Le Botaniste UWS, 156 Columbus Avenue, New York City, NY, USCome at 7:00pm to pick up food and then we'll walk one block to Central Park for a picnic. (On the day of the event, feel free to place an advance order for pickup: https://order.toasttab.com/online/le-botaniste-columbus?diningOption=takeout )
Join us at the new Le Botaniste's Upper West Side location (bet. 66 & 67 Streets, one block from Central Park). It's all vegan, gluten free and organic. Le Pain Quotidien founder and Chief Creative Officer, Alain Coumont opened the first botanical-based, apothecary-inspired NYC in Feb 1, 2016, on Lexington and 63rd. Now he's opened another on the West Side by Central Park!
Specially for this event, our meetup group is happy to have a unique prize giveaway by Vegancuts, a locally owned, all-vegan company. We will have several all-vegan prize boxes of snacks and beauty products as giveaways for a number of our attendees.
LePainQuotidien.com: "[Le Botaniste] is the counterpart to the Belgium-based restaurant of the same name and intends to further organic, plant-based eating in New York City. ... The restaurant is designed to evoke the feeling of a classic apothecary ... mindful eating."
From WellandGood.com: "Healthy, Organic, and Affordable: LE BOTANISTE Ticks Off All The Boxes ... How often do you hear about a great food spot that’s health-conscious, organic, and affordable—oh, and serves wine? ... Le Botaniste is the sort of vegan, gluten-free, and organic restaurant that has an impressive wine list—sulfite-free, pesticide-free, and biodynamically grown—and takes dessert seriously..."
Time Out New York says: “Bread-loving Belgian megachain Le Pain Quotidien is behind this apothecary-inspired wine bar, a sister to the Ghent, Belgium original... lab coat-clad bar staff pour unfiltered, biodynamic wines curated by Le Pain Quotidien founder Alain Coumont ... The food menu is similarly organic and boasts no animal products. Instead expect chefly 'prescriptions' such as the Tibetan Mama (brown rice, steamed greens and spicy kimchi in a peanut-curry sauce) and Dirty Noodle Soup (tofu, steamed leeks, garlic).”
New York Times: "Le Botaniste's Alain Coumont ... has turned what was once one of his New York locations into a vegetarian wine bar ... The décor suggests an old-fashioned pharmacy, and the bowls, containing a starch, sauce or side item and a topping, all organic, are called prescriptions. What’s not eaten is recycled or composted."
For those of you who have never attended one of our Meetup events: this is an incredibly friendly & welcoming group. It will be easy to find our group: we are taking over the majority of the restaurant. Also, everyone pays for their own meal. Easy!
CENTRAL PARK PICNIC: After getting our food at Le Botaniste, we will walk one block to Central Park for a picnic, both on benches and on the grass. Bring something to sit on if you wish, or sit on a bench or directly on the grass.
Location: 156 Columbus Ave (bet. 66th & 67th Streets), New York, NY 10023
Where to Meet: Please meet us inside.
Train Directions: The closest trains are the (1) to 66th - Lincoln, (A) (B) (C) to 72 St and (2) to 59th St. Please note any MTA reroutes on the day of event.
Come on time at or before 7 pm to pick up dinner.
Eddie
