Weekly Go Meetup
The de facto weekly meetup. We are a long-standing club which meet on Thursdays 7:00pm to closing at the Sunnyvale Whole Foods. We have been around in some form or shape for the past 20 years, and have a large number of regulars (typically 20-30 people a week).
Club meetings mostly consist of:
1. a lot of casual play
2. meet new people!
3. game reviews with stronger players to improve!
Our club also has an abnormal amount of strong players, with more than 1/2-3/4 of our players being dan players, the rest being strong single-digit kyu.
However, we highly encourage newcomers to join, as we have some of the strongest players in the country to help you improve. Our group of newcomers has been consistently growing in the past year!
There is no entry fee and you do not have to bring your own equipment. All we ask is you buy something from the Whole Foods which has graciously provided us the playing space!
We hope to see all of you there!!

The Big Idea Behind Stokes’ Theorem: Why Boundaries Control the Whole
In calculus, there are several famous theorems that seem separate at first: the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, Green’s Theorem, Stokes’ Theorem, and the Divergence Theorem.
But under the hood, they are all saying the same deep thing:
**What happens inside a region is connected to what happens on its boundary.**
That is the conceptual heart of Stokes’ Theorem.
In this meetup, we will explore the big picture behind these theorems, not just grind through formulas. We will ask:
What does it mean for a boundary to “measure” what is happening inside?
Why does circulation around the edge tell us something about rotation inside?
Why does flux through a surface tell us something about sources and sinks inside?
How is the ordinary Fundamental Theorem of Calculus already the simplest version of Stokes’ Theorem?
We will go through the conceptual meaning of:
**1\. The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus**
How change over an interval is captured by the values at the endpoints.
**2\. Green’s Theorem**
How circulation around a curve relates to rotation inside a region.
**3\. Stokes’ Theorem**
How circulation around a boundary curve relates to curl across a surface.
**4\. The Divergence Theorem**
How outward flow through a boundary surface relates to sources and sinks inside a volume.
Then we will look at the proof idea: how these theorems work by breaking a region into tiny pieces, where all the internal boundaries cancel out, leaving only the outer boundary. That cancellation is the magic trick. Everything inside shakes hands and disappears; only the edge remains standing.
No advanced background is required, but comfort with basic calculus, vectors, and geometry will help. The goal is not just to memorize formulas, but to understand why these theorems are powerful and why they show up everywhere in physics, geometry, engineering, and differential equations.
This session is for people who want to see calculus not as a bag of tricks, but as a unified language for change, flow, rotation, and boundaries.

**Q&A**
**How can you sign up for pitching your startup?**
Either (**1st in line**) you join the [Discord](https://discord.gg/ywdysKPews) and submit a deck + 2-min pitch or (**2nd in line**) you write your name, project, and email on a whiteboard when you show up.
(Please use a clear, readable script and big letters so everyone can read it easily).
**How much time will you have for your pitch?**
You'll have 2-minute pitch-time, followed by 4-5 minutes of follow-up questions. We'll have up to ten (10) pitches in total.
**How will the priority for pitching order be determined for the startups?**
Those who join the [Discord](https://discord.gg/ywdysKPews) and submitted their decks + 2-min pitches will have a priority. Then a priority is determined by the order in which the startups are written on the whiteboard.
**How do you follow up on a pitch?**

"Amazing event, it has the quality of an event that would be put on by a business school once or twice a year, and this one happens once a month. Each judge showed a lot of care into the advice they gave on people's pitches."
*-Mark J. of Bravestapes.love*
"Many thanks to Hacker Dojo for the opportunity to pitch my startup, aMUZE, at their pitching event! The experience was incredibly enlightening, and the feedback received was profoundly instrumental in honing my presentation skills and business direction. The judges were not only insightful but also constructively critical, asking pointed questions that prompted further refinement of our pitch. Thank you for this invaluable opportunity!" *-*
*Diamantis Argyris Co-founder aMUZE*
“The hacker Dojo is a very inclusive and inviting space for developers looking to explore their ideas in a safe space with very strong minds. There’s even a space for rust developers, which makes me happy 😁 SVET invited me to come pitch my project and I received invaluable advice from amazing judges from a wide array of industry’s with critical feedback !!”
* *Dylan Kawalec, CTO and Solutions Architect of Invo Technologies Inc.*
"One of the most interesting pitch events I attended was at the Hacker Dojo meet and pitch. It was incredible to see the community come together to help everyone streamline their ideas and just listen to some of the great future innovators. Couldn't have been done without SVET. Thanks again!"
