========================== \*Grass Volleyball\* - all levels welcomed! Here's how it works: \- The first 15\-30min will primarily be setting up the nets \- We'll do drills/warmup for around 30mins \- After warmups\, we'll form random teams by counting off in a circle\, giving everyone a chance to mix and play with new people\. We'll play two games and then count off again\. For the second game, court 1 plays court 2, court 3 plays court 4, etc. If there is an odd number of total courts, the last three courts should do a three way swap(say Even number teams rotate clockwise). If you arrive late, just wait for the next count off again, or if you see a team with less than six ppl you can ask if you can join. General Things: \- Generally\, we follow indoor rules\. We try to play with pass\, set\, hit\(3 touches\) and not just hitting the ball over all the time\. \- Generally teams will consiste of 5 or 6 players\. It could go to 4 depending on the number of ppl later in the day\. \- Try not to go under the net\, its not legal indoors but more importantly it can lead to injuries and is dangerous\. \- We try to follow a slew of rules\, but I'm not going to list them here\, and if you are a beginner I wouldn't worry about them too much\. -If something is unclear, just replay the point. The focus is on fun, not perfection. -Teams can play however they want, but by default we usually do front middle the setter and the backrow middle playing short. \*disclaimer - this is a physical activity, there's always risk of injury, please be careful and play at your own risk.

Santa Clara Valley: Chronic Illness Support Group
Santa Clara Valley: Chronic Illness Support Group
Hi folks! This is peer-support group for adults living with chronic conditions or illnesses, including but not limited to: ME/CFS, POTS, hEDS, Fibromyalgia, MCAS, autoimmune conditions, non-specific invisible illnesses, and others. This is a welcoming space to connect with others with similar lived experiences, have healing and empowering discussions, and find community connection. To join the event, please RSVP to be put on the waitlist if the attendees are full, and you will be moved off the waitlist according to group and space constraints. Please also answer the question to RSVP. We keep our sessions intimate on purpose. A smaller group means more space for everyone to speak, for deeper and meaningful conversations, and to instill a community. Feel free to reach out directly if you want to attend but are still on the waitlist a few days prior to the event. By RSVPing, you agree to uphold the community agreement on the group's main page, which may be updated at any point to adjust to the needs of the group.
Kickball
Kickball
Who's up for a friendly game of kickball? Our game is non-competitive and everyone is welcome! If you've never played before, it's kind of like baseball, only you kick a large ball instead of hitting a small ball with a bat. Come early to stretch out and then do some stretching and warm-up passing, throwing, and kicking. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes (no cleats, please), water, and maybe a snack!
Volunteer Trail Work at Portola Redwoods State Park [July]
Volunteer Trail Work at Portola Redwoods State Park [July]
Spend a few hours giving back under the beautiful redwoods of Portola Redwoods State Park, for our monthly trail workday! Tools and training provided as we maintain hiking trails throughout the park. A moderate level of fitness is required, typically including 2-3 miles of hiking. Please bring work gloves, clothes, which you won't mind getting dirty, and sensible shoes i.e. hiking boots, trail runners, etc. We recommend long sleeves and pants to protect from poison oak and insects. Please also bring lunch, snacks and at least 2 liters of water to enjoy on the trail. This month we meet at the Madrone Parking area, just before the Portola Redwoods Visitor Center, here: [https://goo.gl/maps/LGjU248gRJenUpGK9](https://goo.gl/maps/LGjU248gRJenUpGK9) Our plan is to continue work on Lower Coyote Ridge Trail, hoping to make it to the junction of Middle Coyote Ridge. We may more our cars closer if there's parking near the trailhead so if you arrive late we may be in the Hillside group camping parking area. I have volunteer parking passes. If you've never been to Portola Redwoods, you're in for a treat! However, please don't just trust your navigation - look at the map so you understand how to get there. It's not hard but sometimes navigation apps get confused and try to take you on a route you might not enjoy. Also note there is no cell service at the park so you may want to download maps ahead of time or print directions. If you send a last minute message, I probably won't get it. We'll wait a few minutes but if you're not able to be on time we may already be on the trail, and because we need to organize tools and such, you probably won't be able to catch up with us. Sorry about that, this is less of a casual meetup and more of an organized volunteer event. If you know before the event you can't make it please update your availability as early as possible, there is always a waitlist. Here is a more [detailed park map and information brochure](https://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/539/files/PortolaRedwoodsFinalWeb2017.pdf). More information and photos of previous workdays (so you can have a better sense of the kind of work we do) [can be found at our website here](https://portolaandcastlerockfound.org/portola-trail-crew/). Shoot me a message with any questions! -karl
