About us
We are a walking club that promotes Fun, Fitness, and Friendship. We are affiliated with AVA: America's Walking Club, which has over 300 clubs active in the United States hosting thousands of walking, biking and swimming events each year. We are the only AVA club in east Tennessee. We exist to provide people of average athletic ability opportunities for leisurely, non-competitive walks in scenic and historic areas. We generally offer 10 km (6.2 miles) or 5 km (3.1 miles) options at each event. Come Walk with Us!

Founders Park/Grigsby Chapel Rd. Grnwy 5K/10K w/ETW, Sat. Aug 8th, 9:00/10:00am
405 N Campbell Station Rd, Concord, TN, USWhat: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for a 5K/10K walk in Founders Park and along the Grigsby Chapel Greenway in Farragut. The walks consist of a loop in the park followed by an out-and-back walk on the Grigsby Chapel Rd Greenway for both the 5K and 10K. Optional lunch after the walk at Mellow Mushroom or First Watch.
When: On Saturday, Aug. 8th at 9:00am for the 10K and 10:00am for the 5K. Please arrive 15 minutes early for registration.
Where: Meet at the Gazebo in Founder’s Park, 405 North Campbell Station Rd., Knoxville, TN. Parking is available in Founder's Park. Following the walk we plan to have an optional lunch at the Mellow Mushroom (635 N. Campbell Station Rd.) or First Watch (11682 Parkside Drive) starting around 12:00pm.
Details and terrain: The 5K and 10K walks are on mostly paved trails. A small section in the park is on well groomed mulched trails. Both the 5k and 10K would be rated 2A (with minor elevations in the initial park portion) (This small loop section could be skipped for those experiencing difficulties with some elevation change.) Walking poles should not be necessary, but are always welcome.
Registration: There is a modest $3.00 charge for each walker which can be paid to the walk leader for this AVA sanctioned walk. Exact change is appreciated.
Restrooms: There are restrooms located towards the south end of the parking area in Founder’s Park, 405 North Campbell Station Rd, Knoxville, TN. There are also restrooms in the Farragut Library (when open) at the North end of the parking area.
Pets are allowed on the walk and outdoors at the Mellow Mushroom restaurant. However, we may need to be indoors, depending on the weather.
