The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club (officially the Vancouver 'Venturers Volkssport Club) was formed in 1997 and we have been on Meetup since 2018. Our club now has more than 400 full-fledged (annual dues-paying) members. We have a lot of fun and are always keen to welcome newcomers. We enjoy outdoor walks throughout the year, RAIN OR SHINE, all over Metro Vancouver and occasionally farther afield. If you are looking for something to do that's healthful, non-competitive, and provides the opportunity to meet new people, you may well find that our club fits the bill.
Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. (You would still need to pay $1.00 for each walk.) Our walks are round trip walks, which return to the start point. Almost all of our walks are easily accessible by transit and there is usually ample free parking at the start location, although that is not the case in and near downtown Vancouver, where pay parking is the norm. There's always a choice between a 10 km route and a shorter (usually 5 km) route. Walking at a moderate pace without interruption, most people can expect to complete a 10 km walk in about 2 hours and a 5 km walk in approximately 1 hour. This year we have 79 different routes and are hosting walks on 206 days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays). Very few walkers bring their dogs, but leashed well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks.
Our walks start at 10 am and typically attract between 20 and 40 participants. At every walk, upon arriving at the start point, you will be required to register (sign in) and pay a participation fee of $1.00. Our membership fees and walk fees cover our costs; we are strictly non-profit.
Immediately following a walk, some of us will go to a designated eatery nearby to enjoy a nice lunch and more conversation.

Route Description:
Walk along the Spirit Trail, then through Mosquito Creek Park to Edgemont Village, a quaint little area with one-of-a-kind retail stores and a vibrant community. You might feel like you are in a mountain resort as Grouse Mountain is not far away. Then down to the 1950s cabin and pond where a number of shows, including the Virgin River series, were filmed. Next comes Murdo Frazer Pitch & Putt, Heywood Park, Pemberton Heights and back to Mosquito Creek Park. Don’t miss this walk! Lots to explore.Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

Walk in Stanley Park - Seawall (West)

Route Description:
We will walk clockwise from the west side of Stanley Park - Beach Avenue/English Bay to Coal Harbour. The walk offers breathtaking views of English Bay, North Shore Mountains, Vancouver harbour and the city skyline. This route goes past famous landmarks and heritage features such as First Nations Totem Poles, Lions Gate Bridge, Brockton Point & Prospect Point Lighthouses and Siwash Rock. There are beaches, rock cliffs and coastal forests of majestic cedar, hemlock and fir trees. You will see popular west coast wildlife, including sealife: squirrels, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, herons, eagles, seals and otters.
There are two 5K routes: (i) mostly around the east side of the Seawall and back via the Rose Garden (ii) trails to Beaver Lake, then the Aquarium and back via the Seawall.Register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. Route Description:
This walk will take us along the picturesque south arm dyke of the Fraser River. Explore the historical site “London Farm” that tells the story of farming in Steveston from 1880 to 1930. Be surprised by the water traffic on the river. We walk beside the river for most of this walk.
This is a fantastic walk that will have you saying “I did not know that was there”. This is the latest addition to our “Explore Richmond” series - one of 11 walks.Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at a nearby lunch venue.

Walk in Vancouver - Shaughnessy - Queen Elizabeth Park
2505 Granville St, Vancouver, BC, CABEFORE YOU HEAD OUT THE DOOR, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE WE'RE MEETING. We're meeting in the OPEN SPACE BEHIND Indigo/Starbucks. One way to access this open space is to walk down the covered passageway beside the Cactus Club (1530 W. Broadway) and then turning left.
Walk 10 km or 5 km.
