Fun, Fitness, Friendship! The Northern Virginia Walking Club (Volksmarchers) is one of the leading volksport clubs in the US! A volksmarch is a leisurely walk through a scenic or historic area over a pre-marked trail, often using a trail description or map. The walk is non-competitive and participants travel at their own pace, making it an excellent recreational activity for the entire family. Join one of our three types of activities: 1. Traditional Walks with pre-marked trails (walk DIY during a window). 2. Year-Round or Seasonal Events, which are self-guided or DIY 3. Guided Group Walks. To defray expenses, request non-members and guests pay $2. Club members pay $4 for AVA walk-credit. Please bring correct change in cash. We featured curated walks led by experienced members. Annual dues are $10. Attendees under 18 must have a guardian with them. This hobby is world-wide, so try us if you like to travel! Find the Love--Occoquan Park & Suffragist Memorial! Walk 5 or 10km (3 or 6 mi)
Brickmakers Cafe, 9751 Ox Rd, Lorton, VA 22079, USA, Lorton, VA, USThe Brickmakers Cafe, 9751 Ox Road, Lorton, is the starting point for NVV’s Wednesday Walk. Participants can choose from guided 5 and 10 km routes (3 or 6 miles) that wind around the historic prison and Occoquan Regional Park. Both walks pass by a unique Turning Point Suffragist memorial (https://suffragistmemorial.org), plus a historic brick kiln. The longer walk passes a LOVE sign, art galleries and suffragist museum. Please meet Steve Brown in front of the Brickmakers Cafe and arrive in time to register around 9:45 a.m. since we plan to depart promptly at 10 a.m.

Lake Accotink in Springfield! Walk 7 km (4 miles) around the Lake.
5660 Heming Ave, Springfield, VA, USA guided group walk around scenic Lake Accotink and Park in Springfield. See the forest with fall colors! Trail is 7 km (4 miles) and goes around the Lake and thru a subdivision. It has some elevation gain.
The walk is $2 for guests to defray expenses for our sport and $4 for AVA walk credit. Please bring correct change in cash. We featured curated walks led by experienced members. Dogs and children are welcome but those under 18 must have a guardian present. Meet at the park entrance and parking lot at 5660 Heming Avenue, Springfield VA 22150 by 9:45 am to register, so we can leave promptly by 10 am. IMPORTANT: There are two park entrances, so use the one at 5660 Heming Avenue! Look for walk host Steve Brown standing by his car.
