The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club (officially the Vancouver 'Venturers Volkssport Club) was formed in 1997 and we have been on Meetup since 2018. Our club now has more than 400 full-fledged (annual dues-paying) members. We have a lot of fun and are always keen to welcome newcomers. We enjoy outdoor walks throughout the year, RAIN OR SHINE, all over Metro Vancouver and occasionally farther afield. If you are looking for something to do that's healthful, non-competitive, and provides the opportunity to meet new people, you may well find that our club fits the bill.
Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. (You would still need to pay $1.00 for each walk.) Our walks are round trip walks, which return to the start point. Almost all of our walks are easily accessible by transit and there is usually ample free parking at the start location, although that is not the case in and near downtown Vancouver, where pay parking is the norm. There's always a choice between a 10 km route and a shorter (usually 5 km) route. Walking at a moderate pace without interruption, most people can expect to complete a 10 km walk in about 2 hours and a 5 km walk in approximately 1 hour. This year we have 79 different routes and are hosting walks on 206 days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays). Very few walkers bring their dogs, but leashed well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks.
Our walks start at 10 am and typically attract between 20 and 40 participants. At every walk, upon arriving at the start point, you will be required to register (sign in) and pay a participation fee of $1.00. Our membership fees and walk fees cover our costs; we are strictly non-profit.
Immediately following a walk, some of us will go to a designated eatery nearby to enjoy a nice lunch and more conversation.

Route Description:
If there has ever been a walk when you wanted to say “I did not know that was there”, this walk will be one of those. It may be a “WOW” experience for you. This is also an opportunity to walk in the PNE grounds, including the Sanctuary, Momiji gardens, Italian gardens and the Hastings Racecourse. Then, onwards to New Brighton Park, a waterfront park facing the North Shore mountains with beach access to Burrard Inlet. The history of Vancouver starts here. On your way back, you cannot miss the oldest wooden roller coaster, Playland’s most historic and spectacular attraction.Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

Walk in Vancouver – Kits./West Point Grey - Burrard Bridge - Granville Island

ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
We will walk along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Following the Seawall to David Lam Park, we take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. We then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6 km route will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island.*** Bring money for the water taxi – Seniors - $3.00 each; under 65 - $4.50 each. ***

Walk in Richmond - Steveston - West Dyke

NOTE (if you are driving): Due to construction of the new rec centre, if the parking lot is full, turn east off No. 1 Road onto Chatham (which is like a laneway and leads directly to the tennis courts) where there is more parking.

Route Description:
Come Walk With Us! This walk is nearly exclusively on the dyke, going out and back, starting through the Village and along the boardwalk by the marina, then to Garry Point Park and up to Blundell Rd. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This is one of 11 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series.Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.
