Vancouver Venturers Walking Club

Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. (You’d still need to pay $1.00 for each walk.) Please note: Although the number of attendees indicated on this page may appear low, be assured that you will be walking with many club members who have not RSVP’d. We rarely have fewer than 15 participants at any of our walks.

Route Description:
This walk is made up of two loops. We will start with the 5K Western Loop which takes us to the Olympic Cauldron (2010 Winter Olympics) in Jack Poole Plaza, up onto the “green roof”, then along the Coal Harbour Seaside Greenway (Seawall), all the way to Westin Bayshore Hotel. Then through some nice heritage-home neighbourhoods in the West End. The 6K Eastern Loop goes through Downtown Vancouver, around Canada Place Building along “The Canadian Trail”, Gastown & part of Chinatown, including the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park. We will return along West Georgia, the hub of downtown shopping and transportation. This is cruise ship season. Here’s your chance to see the majestic cruise ships docked at Canada Place.

Walkers will register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. The walk will start at 10:00 am sharp. Please be on time; we do not wait for latecomers.

Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

NOTE: Once you have RSVP’d, our Meetup site will always show your status as “Unpaid”. This is not a cause for concern. The $1.00 participation fee for the walk is paid at the start point and to save us some work, we will not be recording on Meetup that you have paid it.

What a very nice area to discover! Located on the high point of Vancouver's Westside, you get to see some very nice city and mountain views all the way to the North Shore (on a clear day) while walking in a mature community with tree-lined streets, restored heritage houses and quiet neighborhood parks. Explore these beautiful, affluent, residential local neighborhoods with your walking friends.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
If you like airplanes, history and exploring somewhere you probably have not walked before, then this walk is not to be missed. The very interesting Flight Path Park located near this little secluded historical village of Burkeville which has an aeronautical theme. Most of the streets are named after airplane manufacturers. This is one of 11 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series.
