Pivot Like a Pro: Failing Fast, Creating Boldly and Moving Forward Fearlessly!
What if failure wasn’t the end of the story, but the spark of your next breakthrough? Register on Meetup for real-world insights from **Sheila Fields** on why the ability to pivot is what separates innovators from followers. This interactive session is a call to action to embrace the messy, creative, and sometimes scary process of failing forward fast. Through stories, strategies, and interactive moments, we’ll explore how *design thinking* unlocks creativity, how *agility* fuels resilience, and how *pivoting* with purpose can transform roadblocks into springboards.
**About our speaker**:

It’s the perfect way to improve faster, get comfortable on the dance floor, and connect with the community in a relaxed, pressure-free environment.
All levels welcome. Just show up and dance. 💃🕺
Salsa On 1 Level 2
Salsa On1 – Level 2 is for dancers who are comfortable with the basics and ready to level up their skills.
In this class, you’ll build on your foundation with more dynamic turn patterns, smoother transitions, better timing, and stronger partner connection. We’ll also introduce styling, musicality, and techniques to help you dance more fluidly and confidently.
You should already be familiar with basic steps, right turns, and simple partner work.
Perfect for those who want to refine their technique, expand their moves, and feel more natural on the dance floor while continuing to have fun and connect with others.

Pick Up Games at Spielbound - May 2026
Each month, we generally plan this Meetup group Pick Up Games event to be on the second or third Sunday in the afternoon. In May, we're pushing it out to the 4th week (due to other conflicts with graduation activities): May 24 from 1:30-4:30 PM!
* We welcome ALL groups to join us, from single individuals to larger numbers - come and make new friends with whom you can play board games at other times!
* Please submit an RSVP to this Meetup event if you plan to attend, to help us set aside a correct number of tables/seats.
* There is a day pass rate to play games at these monthly events ($6 per person on Sundays or member), that you will pay to the front cafe staff when you arrive at Spielbound.
* Look for our group at the tables marked 'Meetup Pick Up Games', likely in the Annex!
Please contact Lily, the Meetup event organizer with any questions\~ looking forward to playing games with you soon!
Walk/Run
1 hour walk in Elmwood Park and UNO campus. Meet in the parking lot next to the baseball diamond off 67th & Pacific on Elmwood.
Daytime Sit & Stitch
Please stop in to sit and stitch with us. We are trying something new and meeting during the day this year. Bring your current knit/crochet/cross-stitch/embroidery project with you and come stitch with us! We would love to meet you and see what you're working on.
\*Please note, this is not a time where I will teach you how to crochet or knit. We do help each other when we get stuck on a project, but this is not a meetup for learning how to knit or crochet.

LilyPalooza! Free Demo - Star Realms
Join us for a **free** demo in the LilyPalooza series, hosted by Lily Wang, the last Sunday of each month! Demoed games are 10% off on the day that they are demoed, AFTER the demo is over.
Game: Star Realms
Duration: 20-60 minute playthroughs
Players: 2-6
Description:
***Star Realms*** is a spaceship combat deck-building game by Magic Hall of Famers Darwin Kastle ([The Battle for Hill 218](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/32484/the-battle-for-hill-218)) and Rob Dougherty ([Ascension](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/69789/ascension-deckbuilding-game) Co-designer). It combines the fun of a deck-building game with the speed and interactivity of Trading Card Game style combat. In *Star Realms*, players make use of Ships and Bases to generate Trade to acquire new Ships and Bases or to generate Combat to attack their opponent to reduce their Authority or destroy their Bases. When you reduce your opponent’s Authority to zero, you win!
The Ships and Bases in *Star Realms* come in four factions. You may acquire and use cards of any faction, but many cards have powerful Ally abilities that reward you for using cards of the same faction together. As you acquire cards using Trade, you put them into your discard pile, to be later shuffled into your personal deck. When you play a Ship, you do what it says and then place it into your discard pile at the end of your turn. When you play a Base, you place it face up in front of you and may use its abilities once every turn. In addition to Combat being the way you reduce your opponent’s Authority to zero and win the game, it’s also useful for destroying your opponent’s Bases. Some Bases are designated as Outposts. Your opponent’s Outposts must be destroyed before you can use Combat to attack your opponent’s Authority directly.
*Star Realms* is easy to learn, especially if you’re familiar with deck-building games, but takes time to master. Each time you play, the game is filled with various strategic decision points. Should I take the best card for me or the best card for my opponent? Should I focus on taking cards of a particular faction or on taking the best card available? Should I be focusing on acquiring more Trade or more Combat? Should I attack my opponent’s Base or their Authority? These are just some of the many choices you’ll be faced with. New players needn’t agonize over these choices just to play, but as they become more advanced players, they will find this depth of strategy leads to great replayability.
The *Star Realms* set contains everything you need for two players. Including multiple copies (one copy for every two players) of the game and/or its standalone expansions, *[Star Realms: Colony Wars](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/182631/star-realms-colony-wars)* and *[Star Realms: Frontiers](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/230253/star-realms-frontiers)*, allows up to six players to play a variety of multiplayer formats, including free-for-all and team play.

Your hiking adventure has been carefully (obsessively?) curated by the Explorer Chick team over countless in-field tests. Only our top treks make the itinerary. Prepare to be challenged on the trail and rewarded with the most OMFG-level mountain views and waterfalls.
**GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS HIKING**
Stride through sweet-smelling pine forests to reach sweeping panoramic vistas with a girl gang you’d trust more than Paul Bunyan. Climb to only one of three remaining fire towers in the National Park when you embark on the strenuous trek up Mt. Cammerer. You can take it “easy” on a moderate hike to the park’s highest single-drop waterfall, Rainbow Falls. Then, inch out to a bald rock outcropping on Charlie’s Bunion to get your heart hammered by mountain scenery in every direction. Walk in the foot path of thousands of Appalachian Trail thru hikers that have come before you on two hikes. Your Insta feed won’t know what hit it. Yes, this is real life with WILD women.
**WHISKEY TOUR**
Of course, what’s a trip to Tennessee without whiskey? You’ll spend a few hours on an exclusive, private tour with our local guide visiting distilleries on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. Go behind the scenes at a real working still house and see how everything is made start to finish. Learn the history of whiskey throughout the Prohibition era, the state’s romance with whiskey, and why these mountains were such an integral part of moonshine culture.
**GLAMPING**
Each night, put your feet up in total Pinterest-worthy digs at our adorable glamping site minutes from Gatlinburg. You will sleep in a tent that has been tastefully decorated and luxuriously appointed with WiFi and temperature control – with meals freshly prepared at camp by your Explorer Chick guides. You only have one task after hiking: RELAX.
It’s a wonderfully wild weekend with a small group of women hiking the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Over the course of the long weekend, you’ll quickly grow close with your posse of Explorer Chicks as you hike the trails and share memories of summits.
