Learn the basics of safe (wood) lathe operation in this certification workshop. You’ll learn how to secure wood and operate a lathe. You’ll learn about different lathe tools and how to work with lathe tools to shape wood. You’ll have an extended chance to use the lathe yourself under supervision. Please bring a mask.

- Safe lathe operation
- Setting up and adjusting the lathe for your project
- Swapping out and adjusting chucks
- Securing pieces of wood for turning
- Working with a variety of tools to create different effects
- Skew Chisels
- Scrapers
- Parting Tools
- Gouges
- Sanding objects on the Lathe
What to bring: A notebook or well-charged phone for taking notes.
What to wear: Closed-toe shoes, short sleeves, and work clothes. Long hair must be tied back.
Safety Gear: Eye protection, ear protection, and sanitizer will be provided. You can also bring your own.This class requires a minimum of 3 students per session. If there are not enough students, we can issue a refund, otherwise refunds are not allowed.

Get going on your aspirational mending projects – you know that pile in the back of your closet with ripped clothes, moth-eaten curtains, and your favorite tote with the torn handle! Your knowledgeable host can help you choose the technique for your repair, provide guidance if you hit a snag, and share thrifty tips for successful mends.
What to Bring: Your textile repair projects. Please launder any clothing you plan to sew before you arrive.

This workshop covers the basics of safe laser operation for laser users. All the basics for certification are also covered.

Certification: Laser Certification with passing knowledge check
Age: 14+This class is for good folks new to operating a laser or needing certification. It does not cover file preparation in detail. This workshop is part lecture and review and part practical experience.
Agenda:
- How Lasers work
- Laser cutting fundamentals
- Toolchain and configuration
- Test cutting and setting determination
- Laser Soft Program basics, limits and benefits
- Startup and shutdown procedures
Take the knowledge online knowledge check to complete your certification after the class.
This class requires a minimum of 2 people to run. If the class is canceled, we can offer a refund but otherwise do not refund.
